Steam Preload starts today

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 2:38 pm

I'll wait until tonight when I go to sleep to pre-down, hopefully avoiding the first wave of downloading.

I was expecting it to be more compressed than that.

Steam preload is on, myne is going on strong with over 12MB/s so it should be done rly fast.

A shame that unlike our console counterparts the PC crowd will have to actualy wait till official release date before we can play.

The assets are already compressed into BSAs. Next compression does not buy you much.

I wouldn't want to play the game without the day 1 patch anyway. :P

21? Hah.

2 here. Gonna be ~3.5 hours. (Glad I switched to Steam per-order/pre-load, instead of disc copy. That much downloading + whatever day 1 patch there is would have eaten up much of my evening game time on Tuesday.)

My Steam download is running at a steady 7.8 MB/s, going to take a bit less than an hour if it continues steady.

Downloaded 3.4 GB / 23.8 GB so far.

I assume that some time on Nov. 10th Steam will intitiate another download and acutally unlock the game.

Yup, I get about 2MB/s as well (15 mbps). I'll start it downloading before bed and it'll be done before I get up. Then, the long agonizing wait for it to unlock in 3 days and 7.5 hours. :D

I'm peaking at 1.4mb/s, with half that being more common. Got to love the crappy internet in this state.

Interesting. Speedtest generally puts me in the mid-30's. But I guess the route to the Steam servers from here svcks.

:meh:

For anyone else who have ordered from Funstock Digital and like me haven't recieved an email about their delay. I sent an email and got a reply saying that the keys will be available latest at noon on monday. So that should give enough time to preload until midnight (hopefully, or maybe then the traffic will be huge :o). Just incase anyone else who ordered from funstock is confused and worried.

Soon... soon...

My preload started at 1:03 and finished at 3:47. 23.8GB.

It downloaded to depotcache, and is broken into 23 1GB .csd chunks and 5 smaller ones, with matching 36 KB .csm files.

No one is datamining this svcker.

Is it Monday yet??

Got the Steam Preloading going here as well. Pretty cool to see Bethesda and Steam taking advantage of the technology like this. It's the equivalent of owning the game store and getting the delivery a few days in advance before release date.

Thanks to all involved for making it happen :foodndrink: :cake: :icecream:

But remember: You won't be able to play before releaseday.

But miracles happen and maybe Bethesda/Steam have some mercy and allow us early access ;).

I can wait. I can wait. Its like the anticipation of Heinz ketchup as it's about to pour down on a juicy hot steaming broiled burger. Am sadomasochistic that way.
