Steam Price Hike

Post » Mon Aug 23, 2010 5:04 am

Dont know who or which company this should be addressed to. But i think it would be more Bethesda.

Yesterday the price for Vegas on Steam was $49.95 US
Today the price on Steam is $89.95 US

I live in Australia and we seem to ALWAYS get the sharp end of the stick when it comes to purchasing Entertainment media.
So Bethesda whats the deal with this RIDICULOUS price hike? Not our fault the AU dollar is fetching .098 cents in you're dollar.

Totally ridiculous.

If worse comes to worse I heard that you Aussies can order it to be delivered overseas from the UK for half the price on Steam. Enjoy.

The price has always been that much in the Australian Steam store, infact there was a thread similar to this not too long ago. You were probably looking at the US Steam store or something and got told the wrong price for your area.

Its not a Steam thing, games are just that expensive in Australia. As for the reasoning for that I do not know as I do not live there. If I had to guess I would say its something to do with all the game banning the government does there or perhaps its because a lot of Australian gamers are willing to pay those prices.

Errr NO!!!! 2 days ago the PRICE WAS $49.95 ****US**** Australian users get the US dollar price on Steam showing, we DONT get a AUS dollar showing. A friend and i PURCHASED Vegas on the 16/9/2010 @ $49.95. So you tell me then mate. And if i look at all the upcoming releases on steam etc that have been released/Coming soon. NONE of them have price hiked and especially NOT by $40.00

Sorry Mate i don't need to buy it again. And it CERTAINLY dosent bring an end to the thread at all. Just thought it would be info for peeps that haven't seen or realize that THERE was a ridiculous price hike for the Australian consumer. Simple.
And yes links to places that are CHEAPER is cool. But the same argument exists, and why should one have to purchase from overseas? Because of a $40.00 increase.

I don't know why the price is so high in AU but alot of games for AU have six, violence, gore and profanity content removed or edited which means developers have to spend more time and money on and they can't print the games with the other versions as the content is different so this probably pushes up the production costs.

PC Version here in the UK is £24.99 / AU $40.75 / US $39.78
