Steam problem

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 2:36 pm

I just downloaded the FO collection on steam as I had never played the old games before. So I start up FO1 and I have weird graphics issues which are purple, green and red distortions. I have had this problem before when playing Diablo 2. This only happens when I play old games, how do I fix this?

Is the game patched? And are you using a resolution patch?

I once had this glitch, I believe I had fixed it by using a certain resolution.

http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/dload.php

First use that to download the appropriate patches for FO1 and FO2. (the official patches)

Then download the resolution patches as found in the same directories.

EDIT:

If anyone has installed any latest patches or a new resolution patch please post here. The last time I did what I've just told bone was 2 years ago.

If you close explorer.exe the colours should go back to normal.

This did work to solve the problem however a new problem arose once I actually exited the vault. About every 10 seconds or so the screen will go black and I have "wipe it away" with the cursor. This is annoying. I hope this isn't a bug or a glitch.

i would rather have the physical copies but I can't find them anywhere. I knew I should have bought them when I saw them at work. I have asked Steam for a credit refund so I can purchase something else. This is why I didn't want to use steam because I knew something like this was going to happen, especially when the game isn't physically on your machine.

yes it took me a while to find those as the shortcuts only have some weird URL path. as for the patches, it tells me I have to have the Fallout CD in the tray and the game must be installed tot he correct directory. Oh well.
