Steam Sale on Fallout Franchise

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 3:16 am

If you don't have Fallout 3 or Fallout NV yet, this is the time to get them on Steam.

Big weekend sale on the franchise, not including Fallout 4.

Fallout 3 GOTY - $10

Fallout NV Ultimate Edition - $10

Great way to spend those last days before Fallout 4 comes out.

Thank you for letting us know. I just don't know which to grab. I liked the upgraded mechanics in NV but hated the story, but also didn't play any DLC and yet opposite holds true for F3.

Though I'm using Windows 8.1 so Idk if either game will even play on it lol

Thanks for the heads-up. :D Even though this thread doesn't have much to do with Fallout 4 directly, I hope moderators let it stay in this section to spread more awareness to its fans so they can buy two great games and support Bethesda if they haven't yet.

They'd work just fine for Windows 8/8.1, what would make you think they wouldn't? I played Fallout 3 on Windows 8 and New Vegas on Windows 10. I'm also halfway through NV's story after 200 hours roaming around elsewhere and I can't say I fancy its storyline as much as 3's either, but some things like {possible spoiler alert!} the robot Yes Man made me crack up so much and {end possible spoiler} the mechanics are such an improvement, and I liked a lot of the new weapons and decisions you could make a lot more than in 3. Incredible DLC, by the way, you missed out big time.

New vegas is such a great game. Wish that bethesda let gog sell fallout 3, i can't get that game to run for crap on newer machines.

I found the best way to play fallout 3 is using the tale of two wasteland mod. It requires you to have both games installed, but it plays fallout 3 using fallout nv. So much more stable and you don't have to jump through hoops to get it working on windows 8

Let me put another plug in for TTW.

Running Fallout 3 with the Fallout NV engine is worth all the trouble of setting it up. And it is actually pretty easy.

You need all the DLCs from both games - so pick up the bundle while it is cheap if you need them.

Not to yank this thread farther away, but I was under the (apparently false) impression that TTW would add layers of complexity and instability to the game. But if it actually can make Fallout 3 ~more~ stable, I may have to give it a look-see. My Fallout New Vegas game almost never crashed, but Fallout-3 crashes ~all~ the time. Granted, that's likely because of the 50 - 100 mods I run with it, but I run just as many mods in New Vegas without as much trouble.

Start in DC, and never go to NV unless you get the urge. If you just play in Fallout 3, it is more stable, preforms better, and looks better to boot.

It plays really nice with NV too though. You can take companions with you, either direction.

Do use the 4GB fix unless it is incorporated in NVSE.

I recently put over 50 hours into Fallout 3 on Windows 10. Didn't have any mods installed. Still crashed all the time.
