game seams to crash randomly and then immediately start syncing in steam not sure if its related or what. help please

Good rule is to turn of Steam Sync unless you actually need it.

Lots of save files supposedly cause sync to thrash.

Another general rule is clean up your save file directory regularly. More than a dozen saves, all checkpoints, is just too many.

I believe Steam syncs automatically happen whenever a game using them is closed, either on purpose or because of a crash. I would guess it is doing the sync because the game closed, rather than it being the cause of the crash itself.
