Steam updating PC Version : V - Skyrim

I'm in game and everything went better than expected.

Ever heard of offline mode? The vast majority of complaints about steam seem to come from massive ignorance.

Did you even bother to read what i wrote right above, i know offline mode works but its not a solution for me

So if I saved a back up of my 4G mod I can just replace it with the one I'm downloading now with the update?

Yes. Just take your backup .exe file and replace the updated .exe. Bada Boom.

You can actually bypass Steam altogther by clicking on the Skyrim.exe in the steamapps common folder. It appears that this new downloaded exe prevents that from happening. So you don't need to play in offline mode, you don't need Steam at all, until this update.

Dunno why you guys bother. When the next patch comes you are bound to update anyways. Sure, it works for a few days more but you have to update soon anyways unless you prefer playing with all the bugs.

Do not know why, but that mod keeps my processor and GPU heat in check with out lag.

Does not really matter, since my monthly allotment of data has been exhausted with my mobile card, which only hurts download speeds, surfing is fine. never thought I'd be glad to have such a [censored] connection..just paused it and went into offline mode. So, I not getting the patch........yet.

Yes you can, it’s just a checkbox on the .exe file allowing you to run it /largeaddressaware. Bethesda isn’t the issue, its Steam and its built in anti cheating / pirating checker that is noticing the change in the file. Normally I am fine for this with multiplayer games but this is a single player game and should not be subject to this.

Unless they fix the crashing like the 4GB patch does a patched game is of no use if it crashes.

The game can be very picky without it. Sometimes I can game for hours, sometimes it lasts for 60 seconds. With the 4GB patch, I game for 8+ hours straight without issue every time.

By that time hopefully they have a fix that does the same thing the 4G mod does. Or another mod for the updated version. A few days is still a few days of gaming and letting the nerds do their thing. I mean that in a good way.

I forgot i had saved my exe files when i did the 4gb patch. :thumbsup:

i am going in offline mode untill the LAA has been updated.

I'm sure Beth/Steam will eventually catch up with those of us that actually like playing the game without fps drops and ctd's (or those that had them, for which the 4GB patch is the only solution right now), but I know I'd like to keep doing so until that time - especially since a legit patch that actually fixes things for the PC might be weeks away, if it ever even arrives

Try going back to the old EXE, open steam and let it download the new one. Then use whatever 4GB program you are using to apply the /largeadressaware flag to the new EXE file. Does this work? ( not at home right now )

Err.. I didn't get any patches that I know of. Can still run the game, and doesn't seem to have any extra's added to skyrim.

People who are smart enough to figure away around this issue probably going to be a bit more cautious when DL updates. So unless they fix the bugs that require the mod, my computer wont go online to steam servers and I'm sure several others will not either. Long story short, it'd be futile.
