steam (valve) problems with mods?

Post » Wed May 02, 2012 10:02 pm

a while back, i bought Civ 5, and got steam with it. i didnt really care, i just wanted to play the game. so now i got Fallout: NV and steam decides to install it for me without my permission. now, i dont really mind it installing it for me. what i have a problem with, is that when i go to download mods from the nexus, theres no way to put it into my game, because steam gets the plugins from its stupid cloud thing. ive tried to remove steam, but even when i think ive gotten everything with the word steam or valve in it, it keeps coming back. until someone can tell me how to remove it, add mods to its cloud, or install the game without steam, i hate steam.

New Vegas doesn't store anything in the Steam Cloud. No saves, no settings, no nothing. You're just doing something wrong, somehow. =(

Steam has no negative impacts on using mods with New Vegas and is even set up to automatically use the New Vegas Script Extender; so, it's actually pro-mod, not anti-mod.

To Install mods, navigate to Program files\Steam\Steam Apps\Common\Fallout New Vegas and you'll find where the mods install too.

Read the readme and installation instructions carefully (In fact, it would have told you all of this had you read the readme for any mods you're using/wanting to use)

Steam Cloud is not used with New Vegas -was going to be, but they disabled it due to issues- and would not affect modding in any case. Valve also worked with the script extender teams with Oblivion and Fallout 3 and made sure that they had the help they needed for New Vegas and Skyrim.

Also, Steam is REQUIRED for New Vegas, if you remove it you can't play. Simples.

i remember, when i first had steam ask me anything about fallout nv (other than installation) it asked me if i wanted to move the mods i already had into a steam cloud or something. also, i just read the game manual for the tiny box of how to install it, and it says nothing about steam. nor does the back of it, or any other part of anything the case came with. (i bought it new btw) so, basically, i just move my mods to Program Files\Steam\Steam Apps\Common\Fallout New Vegas and it should work? one more thing, after i installed it, it continued to download something, is that the update? thanks for the fast reply
