Steam: Varification problems and starting new games : Fallout: New Vegas

Hey,

Been having problems with steam, I have run the file verification near 10 times now hoping it would work properly always finding a file missing and replacing it, the issue causes the game to not get past the first loading screen, just plain on crashing before the actual game starts, so I can get into the normal game but then when starting a game it just crashes before I get to play anything.

As I said verified near 10-20 times, Dunno where these supposed "ini" files are that are explained in a post from april ... I'd like some kind of way of fixing it, also I have deleted it all and re-installed it but nothing has been fixed.

Is this a bug with the steam update and if so when will it be fixed? if its not being fixed i'll get myself a refund and a different game.

I as well as other have the exact same problem verifying the game cache and no issues playing the game. 1 file always fails. Check ithe gamevalidation.log in the steam directory. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam
The file should be installscript.vdf. I dont believe it is the problem. Can you post a dxdiag? http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1122570-how-to-dxdiag/

Asus gamerOSD is known to cause new game crashes. Other background programs can cause issues as well.

You are in the wrong place for venting. This is strictly a gamer to gamer dicussion forum; there is no official support here. You'll have to go to the support site for that. Personally, I recommend to everyone to avoid Steam. IMO, it is a major problem for far too large a percentage of FO-NV players and degrades this game imeasureably by being required.

Yep seen your posts around here Gorath, nice attempt for trolling. Also Steam has been no hastle for me at all .. everytime its been the manufacturers and NOT steam, so if you think its steam ... you should re-consider your thoughts.

Ouch ASUS EAH5450 Series. It is ASUS so look for asus gamerosd. Check add/remove programs. You'll need to uninstall it if you find it.
That is a VERY low end graphic card not to mention your system. Good luck playing the game on anything above low settings. Honestly speaking your
system doesnt meet the system requirements for the game. Always make sure to check the system requirements for ANY software you plan on buying.
Either research the internet or look on the box if you buy retail. The steam store both on the web and through the steam program shows the system requirements
for fallout new vegas. Doubtful you could even get a refund. Its your responsibility to check those.

My computer fits it fine trust me, I've played games with more need than this in low settings and graphics don't bother me at all, most people seem to complain about games that don't have good graphics, but if thats all your after out of a game then you won't get far even with a top notch computer.

And you can get a refund from any game used or unused, statutory rights.
