Steam version crashes for no reason

Post » Sun Sep 27, 2009 9:05 am

Hey guys,

First off, im running this on Steam. My default settings are ultra high (as determined by the game) so my computer can handle it.

This is very hit or miss and very annoying. I have no idea what causes it. It happens almost randomly. I dont know how it can be reproduced because there is no error message other then it stops responding and windows has no idea why. It happens when i fast travel, save, move around, anything really. Its so annoying.

Try this, open steam, find fallout in the libary, right click on it ang go to properties... then to local files and run the "Verify integrity of cache"
Dunno if it will help, BUT, its worth a try:P

I'm having the same problem on steam, random and frequent CTD's. According to the most recent fault in the event viewer, it is :
"faulting module falloutnv.exe,version 1.0.0.240.fault address 0x001df464"
All other faults seem to be graphics faults also.
I'm running a athlon64 6000 dual core @3 gig and a gForce 260 at ultra high (game auto-selected)

Shyndaar- to check tour event viewer go to:control panel/administrative tools/event viewer/application.

I'm on steam as well and crashing regularly.

But it's not that random for me, happens most often when I open vats. But still crashes at other times as well, it's actually been repeatable a couple times for me like running an exact path and encountering the same critter crashing me 3-4 times then I change how I did things and got past it.

Maybe steam is having more troubles but there are obviously issues with the engine.
