Steam version OBSE 0019b hassle (windows7)

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 3:37 pm

I can't get the thing to work. I dumped all the DLLs into the folder, and I even set all oblivion related programs to XP compatibility mode with admin privileges. If there something I don't know?

Did you install STEAM, and therefor Oblivion, to the default directory of Program Files? If so that's likely your problem due to UAC. I suggest you reinstall to \STEAM\ or \Games\STEAM\ and that should resolve any permissions issues. Otherwise OBSE and STEAM work together just fine.

I use the STEAM version with OBSE 19b, and have used many other versions in the past, with zero problems.

Hmm, I'm not directly on the D drive. Think that's the problem eh? I'll give it a try... annoying though downloading the whole thing again is.

EDIT: ...lovely... now TES4LODGen can't find my files. There's no way in the program to manually set the file path in-so-far as I know.

Ultimately I re-installed through C:blah/blah/Programfiles (x86)/blahblahblah and it worked. Of course, I had to learn to edit my registry so the LODgen could find my install folder... which was scary as hell. Registry is one of those things I generally stay well away from. All working now. Hate being on my C drive though since it's MUCH smaller than my D.
