Forgive me if this has already been a question addressed but does anyone know for sure if I will be able to use my Pipboy (PC version) with another F4 version (preordered on steam) or will I be required to use the Pipboy with the exact game copy that the Pipboy comes with?

I was planning on using the game copy that the Pipboy comes with on another computer for my son who does not want to use the Pipboy. I didn't think this was an issue until I had read elsewhere that this may be a problem.

It is just an app for the phone so yeah should not be a problem, the pipboy edition has no phone software it will be an app that is released on release day.

The pip boy itself is literally just a cheap plastic toy that holds a phone. So you'll need to put your phone in it and run an app to utelize the second screen experience

In regards to the comment of this being a cheap plastic toy: But it's a Pipboy!

Fallout 4 is a steamworks game so no matter where you buy it you will end up activating it on steam. So your pipboy will work with every fallout 4 version regardless of where you buy it.

As said, the Pipboy it self is just a bit of plastic that you put your phone in and then download an App on to your phone, there are no actual electronics in the Pipboy itself.

People will be able to use the App as long as they have a compatible phone, they won't need the Pipboy, it's not dependent on having the Pipboy edition.

any fallout work with the APP, the Pipboy edition is just the plastic cover for your phone.

If u dont know that Edition u still can download the app for your phone, and u it with the regular fallout.

I don't believe this is right at all. The Fallout App is specific to Fallout 4. Expecting it to work with any Fallout is unrealistic.

Also - expect to have to log into your provider account from your phone to get connected. You can't just connect to an arbitrary instance.

You misread what dranlord was saying, understandable due to the broken English (no offense, but it's true) - dranlord is saying that if you don't have that edition - the pipboy edition - you can still download the app and used it with a regular version of Fallout 4.

Speaking of which, people need to think critically here... just because the game does or does not come with a pipboy, socks, or other collectibles doesn't mean they're different versions of the game...of course the game is going to be the same!
