Blade, I guess you really, really like Ivellon, since you list it no less than three times under step 34. ;)

Okay, so I installed the 4gb patch, and I think that it makes my game crash. I can't find a way to remove the patch. I already uninstalled and reinstalled oblivion again, but my game still crashes. Does anyone know a way to remove that patch?

if you uninstalled Oblivion, then reinstalled it then the patch will have been removed, something else is causing your crashes.

Petrus, I removed the references to Ivelon only for you but it stays in my load order and that's final :D.

@ Johny Obliv:

Hi, Buddy,
1. readme says make a safe copy of your Oblivion.exe file somewhere so you can replace the patched one.
Basically this means once you reinstalled everything, the patched exe is already gone.
If you still experience CTDs, this means something else could cause them.
2. Remember that all your texture/meshes replacers must be placed at exact time so they can be overran by mods which are supposed to overrun them. To fail to do so is to invite your CTDs.
Make sure you are not victim of wrong installation order. Could be a single bad mesh. happens to the best.
Skycaptain went mad because of a single bad mesh for 3 weeks last year and at the end was gnawing his own PC :D
He had the patience to isolate the real reason for his game gone bad. Took him 3 weeks and lots of advice from forum members.
Will you have his patience?
3. Any mod conflict could cause CTDs, the more general the mod, the worse the CTD scenario.
What I would do is: start uninstalling mods in groups of 3-4 at a time starting with the most recently installed ones.
Continue to deactivate mods until you get stable game.
Alternatively - if you're impatient to find the cause (happens you know), uninstall the game, delete the data folder, defrag, start afresh.
Good luck. If you wonder about something, we are always around to help.

Remember that that patch is not helpful for a 32-bit OS. It can even cause instability. Reinstalling would get rid of it. It is not as if the patch messes with the original on the CD. Are you sure that you did not incorrectly setup Oblivion after reinstalling? When you uninstalled, did you delete your "Oblivion" folder and the "My Games\Oblivion" folder?

Well, it's probably a bad mesh then, as I've pyffid a lot of vanilla meshes, and I also did some folders that weren't recommended to be pyffied. So that might be causing the problem. So I'm off to search that bad mesh then :P

Are you using he newest version of PyFFI? It has a skip list and automatically skips EGMs, even with the right-click method. You should read the PyFFI Info & Relz thread to read up on the newest features, if you have not been there already.

I shied away from Ivellon due to the EXE installer. I'm probably missing out on a great mod, but now that I have a pretty stable FCOM build w/ a number of other mods, I'm hesitant to introduce trouble that's hard to back out of... make sense? By any chance, is there a non-installer version available somewhere?

Still tweaking things a bit, but it's going very nicely indeed. One CTD early today, which I think I have resolved w/ OSR tweaking. Things are running nicely.... Blade Of Mercy, have I mentioned how much I appreciate your guide? (heh, heh!) And Tomlong, your advice has been invaluable as well! Very, very pleased so far and dreading that Monday is approaching!

Does the Ivellon installer not allow you to change the install path? It may use a BSA. I wish I could check. In that case you could easily pack it up in an OMOD after installing it, followed by the latest patch. All you would have to do is grab the plugin (only one) and the BSA. You use OBMM, right?

Aye, I do indeed. Have used it to build numerous OMODs, unpack BSAs, etc. I didn't even think to try changing the install path. Man, what a simple solution! I'll see if that option is available and get back to you. Gracias!

Even if it does not have that option, I think it uses BSAs. Installing it to the Data folder should not mess with anything.

No, Tomlong75210,
Ivelon does not use BSA. Mine is omoded and pyffied and great. I like this mod!
Ivelon allows you to change installation path, so change the path to MyOblivionExperiments folder, open OBMM... enjoy. As I know I will again. :D

Hi guys, I'm quite new to modding Oblivion in as complex a way as this, but I'm very computer literate and have modded other games (including some simple Oblivion modding) so decided to try out FCOM and a bunch of other mods. I've got them all installed, in the correct load order, cleaned etc, and now i'm on step 48 - building my bashed patch. I've read the UESP guide for simple usage including the darnified books, but with so many mods, i'm not sure which things I should be ticking. For example, do I want to import all the names from all the available mods in the right hand column? etc. I've ticked the basic things that the 'simple' FCOM guide tells me to, but that doesn't go as far as the other mods that I have installed (many of which are in these 50 steps).

So I guess my question is, what do I want to include in my bashed patch? Do I tick everything? Are there cases where I want to import or tweak certain mods, because others lead to problems or one overlaps another.

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask and thanks in advance!

There are a few inconsistencies with importing inventory because of new bashed patch capability, but those should be worked out with the next UFCOM update. For now, not use MMM-cobl with FCOM should help reduce the problem some, but just wait a while otherwise.

Thank you. I am in the middle of restructuring, so the only valid links left will be the front page and a few of the top level pages...heheh.

Argh. I had it all working, but then remembered I hadn't put on the alternate start mod. So I did that, then noticed that there were a few settings I forgot to turn on and added the werewolf mod. Rebuilt the bashed patch, disabled all the new mods and loaded them up one at a time and now I have a crash on newgame/load old game. I tried to reverse everything that I remember doing, but it's still crashing, how can I debug my problem per se? (I even tried disabling all but oblivion.esm and it still crashes on newgame/load)

edit: whoops, forgot to force disable mods in obmm. Now it runs, do I just do activate mod-by-mod again?

Yes, and only use Wrye Bash to handle your load order. Mixing using the too to manage your load order is just too messy. Also, if you have trouble with FCOM, please post in the FCOM thread. That is the official thread, so more people monitor it who can help you.

Okay. I just finished loading it all up again, and huzzah it all works! console os kicking up errors which I found out are enhanced weather (the odd error) and enhanced economy (the same error multiple times per second, spamming console). What can I do to resolve those, or are the expected / should I go to their specific threads?

Yes, please go to the mods' specific threads. TheNiceOne is all over the forum right now, so you should definitely be able to get a response from him in the MMO thread. Make sure you have the most up-to-date version of Enhanced Weather as well. I cannot recall ever having a script-related problem with EW.

"Don't forget to RTFM for every mod you install."

What does RTFM mean?
