Post » Fri Jul 30, 2010 5:04 am

The only title i'll be playing this year that isn't skyrim is The Witcher 2. Game looks beasty and the gameplay/graphics are superb. (PS: vsions is watching. EDIT 2 : He's gone)

Anyone who thinks the next cod is going to compete with Skyrim can get the hell out of here.

MW2 and Black Ops sales beg to differ. In this day and age, mp games seem to triumph over sp ones. It's sad but true.

Was never a big fan of the COD franchise, but BF was great, abilities such as Prone, Squads, Vehicle Combat, and more.
If you have never played a BF game, you definitely should try it....IMHO one of the best times you can have with your bro's, specially if your chatting it up in TS3.
Not saying Skyrim will be a bad game, far from it, I'm just saying if I have to choose one, it will be the one I think I will have a better time playing.

I don't really think this is much of a competition. I mean, the games are all quite different and offer very different kinds of game experiences, so they target different kind of gamers. I don't think there are that many people who are interested in several of those games.

Games like Skyrim are being tailored to meet the needs of gamers who play FPS games like Call of Duty. If the rumor is true that MW3 is being released 3 days prior, its kind of a kick in the nuts to Bethesda's development team for trying so hard to make a game that'd please everyone.

Black Ops sold 7 million copies within the first 24 hours of being released...it took fallout new vegas a good month to reach 5 million copies..

If previous COD sales are any indication, MW3 will break records. MW2 made $550 million in it's first 5 days of release. Do I think MW3 will hurt SR? No. Personally, I'm burnt out on COD. I won't be getting MW3. I am, however, interested in UNC3 and BF3. I will be getting those, too. I beeyz a balla111111

@Dragonborn1 BGS would be damned fools to delay SR. They've committed to 11.11.11. You don't pass up on an epic date like that. Besides, BGS wouldn't have announced a release date unless they were certain that they could make it. They learned a lesson with OB.

There hasn't been a good Battlefield game since Modern Combat, Bad Company was horrible. They said ME3 got pushed back so they can make it more of a hybrid between a 3rd person shooter and an RPG, whatever that means since two was more shooter than RPG. Ubisoft pushed back Ghost Recon to avoid competition. I'm pretty sure that Bethesda will keep their date firm, after all, most of these game's release dates being confirmed are just a formality. CoD seems to release during the second week of November every year, so it wasn't a surprise, and EA has stated that BF is attempting to directly compete with CoD which it can only truly do if it releases around the same time.

Same here. I'm getting 3 games this year. Those 2 and either LA Noire, or Infamous 2. If Ninja Gaiden 3 releases this year throw that in too.

BF2 was the best BF game released.
Had the most replay value, and people still play it to this day.
As for the other crap, BC2 and such, just EA doing the traditional Money Grab!
But I'll just go on record as saying if BF3 works as well as BF2, they stand to make Bazillions,....Ok, give or take a buck or two.

Opposite genre and people who buy COD are 360 users that are little kids... Do you honestly think that Skyrim has the same crowd as Call of Duty...

Dude, people who buy CoD games are everyone. Saying Skyrim needs to compete with CoD is like saying Skyrim needs to compete with Facebook. Anyone that buys CoD and likes Skyrim will buy both.
And yeah, CoD games have degraded into crap, but, speaking as a teenager, it's just where we meet our friends these days. We play CoD for the same reason we go to the mall: It's crowded, badly lit, and there hasn't been any real entertainment in it for a decade, but everyone knows how to get there and it's better than hanging out at the dirty Wal-Mart down the street (GTA IV).

Minecraft also isn't a real competitor because two million people have already bought it... The people who want it already own it. It might get a slight boost in sales around the release, especially if they release boxes to sell in stores, but ultimately, we already have it.

I'm gonna have to save up my money anyway, because I've been an Assassin's Creed fan since the first one was demoed at E3 in 2006 (I was a thirteen-year-old that skipped school to watch E3... Wish I could say I grew out of that), so AC:R is a given. I dunno why Assassin's Creed has gotten so much bad press just lately, it's still one of the most sophisticated action-adventure games available... Maybe it really is just because of the popularity it's achieved.
I'm also gonna get Skyward Sword, which means I have to dust off my Wii. What a horrible buy THAT was...
Still, it'll be worth it for a new Zelda!

There are other games besides the Elder Scrolls?? Wow...

:P

That being said, I'll be putting together my new Daedric Tower in october so I can get to playing in november. I had hopes of playing SW:TOR for a bit during Spring-Summer, but seeing that game was delayed and will potentially clash with the release of Skyrim; I'll just go for Skyrim. Sorry BioWare, too bad so sad ;)

Right now, I am probably not going to get Skyrim when it comes out, even though I have it pre-ordered already. I am planning on buying a better rig with my tax return money next spring, so that I will actually be able to play and mod Skyrim. And I will be returning to college, so I can't afford to have another game from a series that made me lose an entire summer in a dark room with a laptop and lots of soda.

The Old Republic comes out next year, it won't clash with Skyrim at all.

What is this Daedric Tower that you are referring to?
