Stiff Competition In November

Post » Thu Jul 29, 2010 9:17 pm

Wow i see no one mentioned Dark Souls? which in my opinion will be better than Skyrim and will be out in mid October i believe...it will probably be game of the year like Demon Souls was.

i have uncharted 2 (never played it), played mw2 and black ops (got bored), played AC 1 and 2 and brother hood (never finished, got so boring).
i don't think these are much of a competition...

I hope you didn't stop with Assassin's Creed after Assassin's Creed 1, because that game is a repetitive chore of a trainwreck with a blue overlay spraypainted on it. Which honestly makes me wonder why I can't stop playing it four years later, but hey.

I just can't get into that series. Average stuff to me.

Don't forget Guild Wars 2 might be coming out around that time. But none of you probably care about the revolution of MMO gaming :whistling:

Anyway, that is some pretty stiff competition. As long as GW2 isn't coming out around there I will preorder Skyrim. AC:Revelations looks good too, AC has improved with each new release. Also, isn't the new Zelda suppose to come out around that time also?

Revolution in MMO gaming? I play Everquest and I couldn't care less about PvP. I don't play MMORPGs for PvP. I understand there are fans of that style of game, but for me I very much dislike PvP so it just plain doesn't interest me. I don't know how Guild Wars handles it but I especially dislike the notion that some MMORPGs enforce racially based factions on players. It isn't "role play" if you are forced into a racially stereotyped role. I don't play it, but EQII lets you change factions, which is a plus from the role play perspective. Some games don't even let you talk to other players if they aren't on your faction. That's totally not my cup of tea. I much prefer teaming up with others to take on computer foes, if I'm playing a multiplayer RPG.

In many ways TES plays like a single player MMORPG, which is one of the reasons I love it. If they made a TES MMORPG it would sap much of what makes the series special out of it in my opinion.

Speaking of MMORPGs, Lord of the Rings Online: The Rise of Isengard also comes out this fall. That's probably going to be the biggest competitor with Skyrim for my time.

Simply the fact that all the news will be about how MW3 has the most boxes sold ever will make Skyrim news less noticeable.

Those other games will steal some of the limelight away from Skyrim. Red Dead had it right. Release in the middle of the year.

Do you think they should move Skyrim out of the same week as MW3? I'd like to make a poll, but I can't on the mobile version of the forums.

Red Dead released at a totally unassuming point in the year, and STILL managed to push Alan Wake, which was a fantastic survival horror, WAY out of the spotlight. Which svcks, because Alan Wake was based on the town I live in.

*epic movie narrator voice* In a world where you can only buy one video game... Which will it be?

Meh, I don't see a big deal in this. I'm going to buy Skyrim no matter what, and if people are really debating whether they should buy Skyrim or MW3 then they should really learn more about video games (not saying MW3 svcks, just that they're completely different types of games).

I cant see atleast mw3effecting skyrims sales MOST (not all)of the people buying that are college fratboi dipshets.
I much prefer a game that dont hold my hand anyway.
I dont like the "go down arbitrary hall A and shootbad guys , fall over then watch teammate pick me up , then procced to wedged in vehicle level B.

Cod games are so overrated that I cringe everytime I see them set a sales record, It just makes me sad to see that many sheeple out there.

CoD- Hate it with a passion. Therefore, I will not buy it.

Uncharted 3- I do not own a PS3. Thus, I can not buy it.

Battlefield 3- Don't know yet. Never really played the series, as I've always been more of a Halo/TF2 kind of guy when it comes to multi-player. Maybe I'll get it for Christmas or something.

AC- Never really got into it.

Minecraft- I plan on getting it over the summer. So no, it does not affect me.

Well, it looks like there's no competition for me. :tes:

Right now, I am probably not going to get Skyrim when it comes out, even though I have it pre-ordered already. I am planning on buying a better rig with my tax return money next spring, so that I will actually be able to play and mod Skyrim. And I will be returning to college, so I can't afford to have another game from a series that made me lose an entire summer in a dark room with a laptop and lots of soda.

The Old Republic comes out next year, it won't clash with Skyrim at all.

What is this Daedric Tower that you are referring to?

I think he's referring to his computer. Or one that he's going to build in October.

Skyrim and Battlefield 3. Two games I will buy. The only two games this year that I'm looking forward to. The same month.

Honestly I may get Battlefield 3 first and wait a short while before getting Skyrim. I'd like any major game breaking bugs to be fixed.

Who the [censored] am I kidding? I'll just buy both damn games.

Ha! I used to share this philosophy, but now i have just accepted the fact that i get way too excited for games and never put off buying them as soon as possible!

Honestly... November is going to be a crazily expensive month for me! I've got maybe 6 must-buy-straightaway games!

No sane person would buy any of those games before Skyrim.

Only two *new* games I'll be buying this year are TES: Skyrim and Red Orchestra: Heroes of Stalingrad. Games of the year

was interested in BF3 until they said there'd be no mod tools.

I think this is one of the reasons Bethesda is releasing information slowly. You have to save something to talk about otherwise you will drop of the radar. If it is true that COD is getting a follow up in November then Activision will dominate media because they will have a lot of info to release in a short space of time. Clever marketing

Uncharted 3 is launching 11.1.11, MW3 was just leaked and it's releasing 11.8.11 the same week as Skyrim, Minecraft on 11.11.11 same say as Skyrim, and AC: Revelations is slated for November as well.

I'll only be getting Skyrim, but MW3 releasing that Tuesday with Skyrim on Friday troubles me. I wonder if Gamestop has ever had 2 midnight launches in the same week?

whats uncharted 3?

whats MW3?

uh, isnt minecraft already an existing game? i didnt realize it needed to be released again...

whats AC revelations?

skyrim is the only game im spending money on in november.

*cringe* Really, why do people do this ? Why would we not count upwards, Days, Months, Years... Big unit, bigger unit, the biggest unit. Why do we do "Bigger - Big - Biggest" ? It makes no sense at all.

On topic I don′t think it′s gonna matter how many games are released on the same time. I for one am only buying Skyrim out of those games and if I was gonna play the others I′d buy them too. There are very few people I know who feel like they have to decide, most can get both and if not at that particular moment they should be able to later.

I find that dealing with titles as these it doesnt really matter that the releases are close because the will all be bought eventually anyway. I for one pre-ordered Skyrim and me3 2 months ago, don't have a ps3(brother does, he will get uncharted 3), my laptop is for studies, games like COD and Battlefield i really only play at café's with friends, 8 or so, like once every second month since i find they get boring when playing alone. Not that im bad at them, play'd Counter strike 2 years straight and i can handle myself on most shooters i have ever tried, they are just more fun with friends, yelling and screaming.
