Stiff Competition In November

Post » Fri Jul 30, 2010 3:26 am

Don't really care about any of those titles personally. I burnt out on COD after MW2, MW3 won't be anything like the COD4 I know and love. COD is dead to me.

Who cares if it's GOTY or not? It's going to be a great game and that's all that counts.

In my opinion Uncharted is the most over rated game of all time, I honestly don't understand all the hype. Plus it is a PS3 exclusive, so people with a 360 or PC don't even class that as competition for what to buy. Call of duty has just gone every year since COD 4, and all of the fan boys of that probably wouldn't think about buying skyrim anyway. Minecraft is already owned by over 2 million people, I doubt they'll actually get many sales on the release day as it's just going to be another update and a status change.

Uncharted 2 was 2009 GotY even though it was an exclusive.

Are we talking about what is going to be game of the year or what more people are going to buy/enjoy? I was just saying that because it's only on playstation people from other 360 and PC (Which I use both of) won't even consider buying uncharted instead of skyrim, because they can't.

Pride in one of your favorite franchises and recognition of the actual best game of the year (not like the Red Dead Redemption fiasco... that game svcked so hard...).

That's why I care at least.

Only reason I've ever cared about GotY is for bargain re-releases with bundled DLC. And games with alot of DLC sometimes put out compliation releases anyway. Finally picked up the Oblivion GotY this past spring, since it was cheaper than getting a Shivering Isles disc, and I'd never played SI before. (Still waiting for an ME2 Complete edition, though..... :()

Uncharted 2 won GOTY because it wasn't competing against an Elder Scrolls game... or much other competition that year for that matter.

I own no PS3, so I can guarantee you that I won't be putting my $60 USD on the line there. While PS3 owners are busy fumbling around in a desert, I'll be slaying Dragons and stealing their souls for my own greedy personal use. heh heh heh.

Yea in terms of sales im thinking MW3 will sell the most simply because its a COD game. I will admit im a COD player myself, but by no means a really devoted fan of it like so many 12 year olds are of it here in the states, but Skyrim will easily get my money over any of these other games being released around the same time.

I don't think FPS (especially CoD) players are looking forward to buying Skyrim anyway. They aren't its core audience for sure.

Skyrim is going to be a hardcoe role-playing game by today's standards.

Im confident Skyrim will do very well in terms of sales, and certainly will be a strong competitor for GOTY. If I could only buy one game at the end of this year, that game would be Skyrim.

I can only see myself getting AC: Revelations aside from Skyrim, but Skyrim will still be my main source of epicness.

Sales-wise the competition doesn't really matter because everyone will get what they want anyway.

But for me personally, I will want to play Skyrim, AC:revelations and BF3.
The biggest problem is that Skyrim and BF3 are both games that I will play for a very long time before growing bored, so I will have to prioritise on one (Skyrim).

I don't really think this is much of a competition. I mean, the games are all quite different and offer very different kinds of game experiences, so they target different kind of gamers. I don't think there are that many people who are interested in several of those games.

If a rap album and a heavy metal album are released the same week, would the rap fan buy the heavy metal album?

Well, I'll tell ya, BF3 is made FOR the PC, and Apparently Skyrim is not.
If it comes down to playability and better graphics, you can guess were my money will go....(Hint)BF3!
Also, comparing Rap to Heavy Metal is like comparing, Music to Video Games!.....Wait.....I Digress.

Aug-Sep will be harder months for me I think.. Bunch of games coming out.. Max Payne 3, Deus X. Rage.. And I'll still most likely be playing catchup from all the games I wanted to play all summer. Too many games coming out at once for us poor people.

Well in music, tastes are really distinct. However with games it is not as distinct. I only do RPG/Platformer and FPS, dont like sport games/racing games etc. so this news concerns me a bit.

Uncharted 3 is launching 11.1.11, MW3 was just leaked and it's releasing 11.8.11 the same week as Skyrim, Minecraft on 11.11.11 same say as Skyrim, and AC: Revelations is slated for November as well.

I'll only be getting Skyrim, but MW3 releasing that Tuesday with Skyrim on Friday troubles me. I wonder if Gamestop has ever had 2 midnight launches in the same week?

ME3 was pushed back to 2012.

I didn't bother to see who else posted this.
