Stiff Competition In November

Post » Fri Jul 30, 2010 7:21 am

Well, I'll tell ya, BF3 is made FOR the PC, and Apparently Skyrim is not.
If it comes down to playability and better graphics, you can guess were my money will go....(Hint)BF3!

Doesn't make sense.

(ex..... if you don't like BF games, and you like TES games, buying BF because it "made for PC" would be kind of dumb. And if you do like both game series.... why not get both? And if you don't like TES games.... you wouldn't get it anyway.)

Concerns you as in a possible delay?

No, my concerns are more budgetary.

I am only interested in skyrim out of those choices personally.

I'll be getting both AC and Skyrim, though I won't have much chance to play either until December.

The RPGs I'm looking forward to in the nearish future are Tales of Graces f, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Mass Effect 3, and Skyrim. I'll pass on ME3 until it drops in price since Bioware is DLC crazy and they aren't getting like $120 out of me for the game, and Tales and Final Fantasy don't come until next year. I'm not particularly interested in the other games launching near the end of the year. Uncharted sounds nice, but I already have enough other games to play.

I'm taking a full week off in Nov. just for Skyrim, so I hope MW3 gets delayed. Don't want it to interfere....

Makes perfect sense.

What you can take away from my post is....I obviously play both RPG and FPS Games.....As do others here, so your point about not getting one or the other is kind of mute.
Now, you can spend your money on an inferior game with lower graphics and less game play ability, or you can play the better one, I am just as happy running through a fantasy land RPG or shooting some baddies with my buds in a BF3 game.
Sure you can buy both, but some cant due to funds, or wont due to the fact that it is dumbed down from a console.
Myself, I will wait for reviews and make a decision later, I guess.

BF3, Revelations, Skyrim, MW3 all in the same month? That settles it. I need a job. Now.

Mark my words there will be blodd between us loyal TES fans and those that worship the most overrated game series of all time: COD. They are the enemy. They must be stopped.

Don't forget Guild Wars 2 might be coming out around that time. But none of you probably care about the revolution of MMO gaming :whistling:

Anyway, that is some pretty stiff competition. As long as GW2 isn't coming out around there I will preorder Skyrim. AC:Revelations looks good too, AC has improved with each new release. Also, isn't the new Zelda suppose to come out around that time also?

Not concerned at all about the competition. Yes Gears/Modern Warfare may get more sales but who's going to be the GOTY/GOAT in the long term. The answer is very clear.

i dont play fpss, but the cod sales have been annoying me for the past two years, i know its mostly copy and pasted gameplay since cod1, still dont understand why gamers buy this video game every year since cod4, the multiplayer is very similar, every year. anyways im sure skyrim sales will be fine

Uncharted 3: Never played the series, easy for me to ignore.

MW3: Trololol, don't even.

Minecraft: Since you can already buy it, it's release really means nothing but pulling of the beta tag and probably an increase in price.

AC:Revelations: I also won't be buying this. The story svcked so much in AC:B, and nobody plays the multiplayer anymore, so that game ran out quickly. It killed my lust for the series entirely.

The only game that I can't wait for that's even remotely close is BF3 in September.

In terms of sales I'm betting the "meh" CoD will destroy Skyrim in terms of sales. I'm sure Black Ops owns some kind of record for that as of now. I can see MW3 beating that.
Does a game have to be good to sell well? No, hype sells games, but it also breeds disappointment. There will be one day when CoD will fall, but that won't be this year (I'm not
stuck on it by the way, I was making a point).

What is becoming a bit grating about the CoD series is that it's becoming (or rather has become) one of those yearly cash in games. CoD is being released too often and that's why every new game changes so little. It's just silly to me. CoD - $60 every year and it feels like the game is almost the same. TES - $60 for a game you can play for the half-decade you're waiting for the next title, which won't the same old-and-tired game you already have.

It is rather stiff competition.... For the other games other than Skyrim... Am I right? Am I right? lol

Anyway yeah, Uncharted coming out would likely not falter Skyrim's selling, being a PS3 exclusive and all, COD to me is going to be the main competition for Skyrim, for all the wrong reasons, COD is overrated (excluding 1,2,4 as they are actually good and wasn't rushed for a quick buck) and pretty much every Elder Scrolls game to date are amazingly crafted for each game, and all Elder Scrolls games excluding Redguard are in massive landscapes with billions of different opportunities for pretty much every player. COD is also very dependant on its multi-player modes as its story-lines are usually, well now anyway, very generic military shooter storyline..

Also with Battlefield 3 rumoured to be released on 2.11.11, I can see this year being a bad year for Activision and unfortunately for Infinity Ward, who I think is a great game studio, whose (unfortunately) franchise has been exploited by the wonderful minds of Activision, just like Guitar Hero, and a lot of other successful Activision franchises.

From last November to this November they'll be two full retail releases and two DLC packs for CoD. Yes, that is absurd.

Uncharted 3 is launching 11.1.11, MW3 was just leaked and it's releasing 11.8.11 the same week as Skyrim, Minecraft on 11.11.11 same say as Skyrim, and AC: Revelations is slated for November as well.

I'll only be getting Skyrim, but MW3 releasing that Tuesday with Skyrim on Friday troubles me. I wonder if Gamestop has ever had 2 midnight launches in the same week?

just wait. when skyrim hits the market, everyone will go into a major nergasm...it'll be better than all the other games.

Eh the only game listed here that interested me was AC Revelations but I probably won't get that at release I don't even have brotherhood yet and haven't finished AC2. Hopefully it's less bippity boppity than the other sequels.
BF3 is another one I can't wait for though it looks beautiful. Honestly I grew out of the CoD yearly sequel hype after MW2, they only get mildly improved with each release.

Anyone who thinks the next cod is going to compete with Skyrim can get the hell out of here. Still, there are some good games on that list, like uncharted 3 IMO. OFC they're no match for skyrim.

Well for me, Rage is looking sort of interesting, I haven't looked too much into it, but that's coming out around a month before hand so if I do get it upon release I'll have time to play it.

Battlefield 3 I will definitely get whenever that comes out, I've heard September, November, and even December for that game, not sure exactly when it'll be out, but I'll be getting it then. Skyrim is a definite purchase for me on release, for sure. If Battlefield 3 comes out the around the same time as Skyrim, I'm sure my play time with it will suffer due to me playing Skyrim of course.

As for the other games, I don't plan on getting, Call of Duty to me has gone down hill since Call of Duty 4 and I have purchased all of them since, but the amount of time I play them has gone down too. Call of Duty 4 I played for a few weeks+ after purchase, Call of Duty World at War I bought late, like 6 months late, and played it on and off, since. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 I bought at release, then I played maybe the first 2 weeks and haven't played since. Call of Duty Black Ops, I bought at release but I barely even played that first week and haven't played since. So the release of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 will be a no brainer for me, I just won't play it, let alone buy it.

Assassins Creed, I've barely played them, but I'm tired of this Ezio guy, and didn't get into the series that much to warrant a purchase right at release, maybe later down the road.

Arkham City, I didn't get around to playing Arkham Asylum till like a year after release, thought it was great, but Arkham City won't be a day one purchase for me and will be like Assassins Creed, I'll hold off on that one. Uncharted 3, never played the series, I don't own a PS3 and don't plan on getting one anytime soon, or between now and then so it's going to be a definite pass on that one.

Let's see, Gears of War 3... I bought the first one way back when, and I barely played it. I couldn't get into the game at all, never played Gears of War 2, and so I probably won't get Gears of War 3 ever, especially at release.

As for multiple midnight releases per week, yeah they've done those before. They've done multiple games in one night, I think the new Donkey Kong Country game for the Wii came out the same time as Call of Duty Black Ops so there was a midnight release for both the same time, of course Call of Duty Black Ops had a bigger following.
