Still curious about this soundtrack!

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 3:09 pm

Searching didn't provide any particularly recent results, and I've gotta say... the music I've heard so far from gameplay, or from the composers Bob and Barn, leaves a lot to be desired. Especially when a good OST has the potential to elevate a mediocre gaming experience to a heart-pumping, sweaty-palm-inducing rush of adrenalin (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4KjBE9xLS8&feature=related from 7:30-10:50).

So I was curious, any further updates or nuggets of information on the matter? Any further knowledge or observations anybody has to share, for myself or even those who are still clueless about the OST and it's existence?

Or heck, I know it's been done before, but any wants/hopes/anticipations as to what the OST will sounds like?

OST? If it's sound track. It would be nice to have some good music while playing. But I usually play my own music anyway.

Something fast and more on the side of rock rather than something else. Hope this is what the thread is about or im going to be rather embarrassed

I doubt there will be much music in a multiplayer focused game. They've put a lot of work into the sound to compensate, though.

The fact that it's multiplayer is a pretty poor excuse to skive-off on the OST. All it takes is spending a little extra time to find the right composer to elevate the game to a whole new level of immersion. Music really can make a huge difference atmospherically...

OST = Original SoundTrack, so yeah you're onto it. I would play my own music, but I often find that it becomes too distracting or detaching from the experience, especially if there's lyrics involved...

Just turn on your own music?

In-game music is annoying when I'm wearing turtle beaches.

It's just sad when I have to do that because the OST is boring, it shows there should have been more effort put in because I shouldn't feel the need to play my own music. I'd never dream of doing it in a game like R&C2 or a Dynasty Warriors title...

I usually turn any in-game music off while playing MP because I find it covers up important audio ques that I need to hear.

We had some discussion about possible music for a soundtrack - mainly genres.
However, eventually most people would turn it off anyway, to get more out of the "important" game sound.

So the ideal way to use music would probably be similar to how the Coens do it in most of their movies - No Country for Old Men being a good example - in which music is rarely used and mainly appears in the background.

I normally listen to death metal and Japanese Visual Kei which is too loud for a FPS game and i do like others do and turn off the gameplay music and amp up the game sound. pretty freaky when playing MW2 at 3 am drunk with the volume up on overgrown HCSD with the enemy team still with 5-6 and your the last one left.

I would prefer omething close to MAG wheres little to no back ground music but when you do something (like a challenge) a edgy rock rift come outta no where giving you more of an "Iam invincible feel"

It would be cool if they had it so when you're not fighting or doing an objective there would be very little music, and then when you are fighting or doing an objective there would be music, it's usually like that in single player, and they want to thin the lines between single player and multiplayer... So they should do that :)

I agree but the fact that it's a multiplayer game just sort of means music takes back seat. It would actually be detrimental to your progress.

Definately agree with this. Infinity Ward did an excellent job on this in Modern Warfare 2.

Something like the Guitar-Sound in Magicka -http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GpTm6SyWVZA&#t=25s- would be awesome as well.
