Hah, I thought the Dark Alliance rights went to Atari as part of the recent deal. Looks like I was wrong. The Vault - Fallout Wiki * Fallout Online * Fallout IRC Channel * Fallout: New Vegas

Yeah, go figure, huh

I wonder what Atari did get in lieu of 1 million USD. Just the leftover stuff from the originally published D&D games doesn't seem like much for that kind of a price tag.

Well, there have been rumors lately about Atari publishing a Baldur's Gate 3. I wouldn't be surprised if gamesas had still owned the BG plot details and characters before the deal, and Atari wanted a BG3 that would continue the story of the originals (not much of a point there from the story's point, but wouldn't be that surprising). I believe Atari gets the AD&D licence and the "Baldur's Gate" name. gamesas retains the "Dark Alliance" name.

So the next Dark Alliance may just end up being a game about the deals between gamesas and Atari.

Dvergilio, did anyone ever find that easter egg you've always been hinting about? ^^

Dark Alliance wasn't exactly bad as an action-RPG, but it kind of annoyed me that it had to bear the Baldur's Gate name despite being completely unrelated. I feel the same way about Final Fantasy XI and King's Quest VIII. Not completely bad games, but definitely traitors to their names.

Eater egg... hmmm, that was a while ago and may need some help jogging my memory (holy cow, has it been 4 years?!). I was actually involved in testing this game at one point for the European localized versions so I should know what the easter egg is but I am not recalling. Did I give any hints?

I would love a New DA, but I think Snowblind may have the rights now and the Dungeons & Dragons Liscence needs to be retained from Atari before a new game can be made.

I want the new one to have 4 players instead of 2 and I want play over Xbox Live and PSN that will allow 2 people to play on one console with pothers over the internet. Image

gamesas has the rights to Dark Alliance, but not to Baldur's Gate anymore. As far as I know, they're planning to make Dark Alliance 3 without the BG name (it didn't have much to do with BG anyway ) and without the D&D license (ditto). I think it was for Tactics, you said there was one terrain tile that could do, well, something special. But that it was so hard to reach that you weren't even sure it was possible to get there before dying. Or I may be mistaken, heh.

Unless you meant Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel? I was involved with this one from start to finish and there were a couple things hidden... like the secret invisible platform at the end of the Bridge that lead to the Meat Cannon.

Ah, yes, it fas FO:BOS. And as far as I know, you hadn't revealed the tile's location up until now.

Hehe, ah yes, the old "leap of faith" (think Last Crusade) uh, that is... if anyone is still playing this one.

I've been looking to play it for the first time. I bought it 3 or 4 years ago to play it with my wife. She didn't like it at all, she thought it felt sloppy and not as polished Deadly Alliance or CON. The only thing holding me back from playing it is that these games are not that fun solo, and that it is not backwards compatable with the 360. I would have to hook up the OG Xbox to play it.

So if you have a cool tip under your hat then by all means spill the beans. Image

gamesas retained all the intellectual properties when Shiny and the Matrix license were sold off to Infogrames (later renamed Atari in North America). After that I don't know.

I would love to see DA return to consoles. 8-)
