Still single player?

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 6:55 pm

We see these threads for EVERY game beth releases. So far, no mulitplayer of any sort. Which is perfectly fine with me. I play SINGLE PLAYER games for a reason.

No.

Judging by how hard it is for modders to impliment a multiplayer system in previous titles (only one managed to get to a playable alpha... and IIRC, it booted you out of the server if you attempted to access your inventory), I'd imagine that we'd loose a huge chunk of what gamesas is known for if they stuck in a co-op or multiplayer feature.

And sadly, it's not "bugs" or "poor writing" that gamesas would drop. What would be lost is "Wide-open sandbox-like RPG"

I can't remember which, but on one of those MMOs they have out, there's a Fallout Mod. Just play that.

ESO is nothing like a proper Elder scrolls game at all, even passing knowledge of it would tell you that. Co-op and MMO are two VERY different things

In which way are you saying that The Elder Scrolls Online is not a proper The Elder Scrolls video games? In the way it represents lore? Or in the way Bethesda Games Studios develops The Elder Scrolls video games? Because The Elder Scrolls Online represents the lore of The Elder Scrolls more accurately.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion's Cyrodil is a forest, while The Elder Scrolls Onlines Cyrodil is a jungle, which is the way Cyrodil actually is.

Except it isn't.

Its exactly the way it was in Oblivion. They even did a huge thing talking about how it was going to be EXACTLY like it was in Oblivion, because they started making the game around then.

I don't read up much on lore for The Elder Scrolls, but right after The Elder Scrolls Online was announced and that Cyrodil will have a jungle instead of a forest I went to read up on The Elder Scrolls lore some more and it turns out that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion having a forest instead of a jungle is wrong.

I even went to read about the Imperials and they built a spaceship I think in the 600th era to go to the moon.

You might be interested in a game called https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fallen_Earth It is a free-to-play MMO that is very Fallout-ish (post-apocalyptic setting, dark humor, ect). It is set in north-west Arizona, not very far away from where Fallout: New Vegas is located.

Fallen Earth is the game I have played that most reminds me of the Fallout series. If you're looking for an online Fallout-esque experience I would suggest that you take a look.

No, they never said Cyrodiil would be a jungle in TESO, and it isn't in-game either.

It was a jungle in lore, but its not in-game.

I would know.... I have played the game.

Yeah, Cyrodil is NOT a jungle...I got lost in the Cyrodil map, and there was nothing Jungle about it.

Yes they did I read up somewhere I don't remember where, but Cyrodil really does not have a jungle in The Elder Scrolls Online? I was going to purchase The Elder Scrolls Online, but I had a fear it would go Free to Play (F2P) and it did.

I went looking at google.com for pictures, but there are so many wrong pictures, like people posting The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion pictures or pictures of themselves in cities in The Elder Scrolls Online instead. Can you take some pictures and show me?

I can't even imagine what V.A.T.S. is gonna look like even for a simple 2 player coop.

Player 1: "Ok. You go for his weapon. I'm gonna take the head."
Player 2: "But you're gonna get the XP for that kill. You took the XP last time."
Player 1: "Relax. I'll let you have the loot this time. Roger?"
Player 2: "Fine."
Player 1: "You done?"
Player 2: "...and confirmed."
Player 1: "Confirmed."

*Animation plays

And that's how every kill is gonna be like.

According to LORE, Cyrodiil was tropical rainforest, or some such. In Oblivion, it looked more like Maine...... (state on the east coast of the US.) But then, it isn't the first time Beth broke their own lore either. :)

Gameplay i meant, sure it is first person, but you dont get the freedome i and assume many other's expect when we sink our teeth into an elder scrolls game. First your alliance is set based on what race you like to play so you dont even get to choose that (aside from if you wanna spend extra dough *rolls eyes* thanks beth so i have to pay more to play with a buddies say khajiit with my orc?) You dont get to build up your character as you wish, you get a class and get some wiggle room with customization, just like every other MMO out there ETC. The best thing about it was finally showing a sea elf, that was one thing i liked about ESO but i digress.

This is just going off the small amount of time i played, i realized the game was not for me nor what i wanted pretty quickly, shame i still wanan travel an open world Cyrodil, Morrowind, Skyrim, Capital wasteland or Mojave and just raid dungeons, get loot with a bud using a character i got the chance to create from scratch but alas Beth will use ESO's failure as an excuse to never even try it in a spinoff "SEE WE TRIED A MP GAME AND IT FAILED (even if it was not the mp game a lot of people were clamoring for) NOONE WANTS IT" Lets face it, subscription based MMO's are a dieing breed it seems, i cant believe they thought making a new one was a good idea

The lore is from the first Pocket Guide to the Empire which has mostly been contentiously retconned as the series goes on. For instance in Morrowind's section it states all of Morrowind is covered in ash, like right as you enter from the border between Morrowind and Cyrodiil yet in the game Morrowind we see numerous places where the ash hasn't reached.

No, they didn't. They never said it would be a jungle. You are probably confused from when people complained that it WASN'T one.

Here are some pics of locations in Cyrodiil in TESO. There is no jungle.

Its the same generic medieval landscape we saw in Oblivion.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is set 200 years after The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim's expansion pack Dragonborn the volcano erupted and Morrowind is covered in ash as well as Solstheim.

So which lore for The Elder Scrolls is more accurate?

What happens in the games are accurate, because they are physical manifestations, rather than what's written, which can be changed.

Yes I realize that but I'm not talking about Dragonborn I'm talking about the third elder scrolls game called Morrowind. The PGE dates back to the end of the second era during the Tiber Wars, right around when the Crown rebellion rose up against Tiber because the crown redguards wanted equal benefits for being under the Empire.

Morrowind wasn't retconned, it was changed when lie-rock also known as the ministry of truth fell on the city of Vivec because the god-king Vivec who held up lie-rock vanished from Morrowind and the device that a dunmer mage created to keep it up broke it which is covered in the TES books. It's showing the consequence of the Nerevarine's actions.

The first PGE on the other hand is a book created by a propaganda group that Tiber Septim created to act as "official historians and archaeologists"

Fallout games are inherently better as SP games. Too many developers are nowadays jumping on the MMO train and just chucking up the cash for subscription, without having a real passion about what they create. Let someone (Like ZeniMax) do a Fallout MMO as a separate game if the want, but they wont get me to play the MMO.

I know you were talking about The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. I was just saying that it happened in The Elder Scrolls V: Skrim's Dragonborn expansion pack rather than in The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.

The way Bethesda Game Studios represents the lore for The Elder Scrolls video games is twisted to me. Even to the point where I get confused and makes absolutely no sense to me. However I still love a lot how The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind's story quests are written.
