Still some save issues

Post » Fri Jun 11, 2010 6:26 am

Hmm. I only see Authenticated Users, System, Admin, and Users listed as options for this. Am I missing something, or is it one of those?

All I did was set Write to DENY on every user listed. Seems to do the trick. Though I do get a message every time I play about not being able to sync. That is actually a great way to know that this works! lol

The problem with these "solutions" the community has posted is that I have no intention of trying any of them anymore. Even if it works I have lost the gameplay, and I do not have the motivation to play through most of the game again just to get back where I was. Another problem is that I should never ever have to do this to get the game I paid for to work. That is not my job. My part is to buy the game and play it. I already know I am done with this game, I am not done complaining though. I could have bought a real game instead of this, and I am not a happy camper...

I hate to be an ignorant moron here, but I can't seem to get this fix to work and its driving me nuts.

I'm using XP and am logged onto my admin account, but when I right-click the 'remote' folder, I don't have any 'security' tab. Only three tabs, which read General, Sharing, and Customize.

I've gone through and clicked just about every available option under those tabs, but I still cannot find the Security tab and, thus, cannot make this fix work.

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong and why I can't find this tab?

Thanks.

Okay, I got this sorted out after a bit of digging.

As a default setting, Windows XP will not display the Security tab. In order to get it to show up, you need to go into the explorer tree accessible by clicking on Tools up at the top of your window when you're in the folder. Then select Viewing Options and make sure to UNCHECK the option to 'Use Simple File Sharing' from the list.

Once that is done, you'll be able to access the aforementioned Security tab and simply follow Saner50's instructions from there.

I couldn't agree more. I mean I'm kinda tempted to get a console version but I mean there are so many PC bonus's normally. I mean it's not like these bugs are that hard to catch.

Don't reward their failure by giving them more !@#$ing money. What is wrong with you?

Also... before this most recent patch I have been running it in offline mode ever since I lost 5 hours while in online mode. It has been going fine up until just now, where my quick/auto saves were once again overwritten but this time I was able to nab them using the player recommended fix.
