Skyrim is supposed to be the most violent ES game yet, so I say M, too.

Yes, but then it was discovered that there are nipbles in the game that you have to use mods to find and of course while torture, murder, and violent bloody death are perfectly fine for teenagers to be exposed to we can't allow them to see human body parts.

That is where things got unfair IMO. Oblivion was T but was changed to M becuase whoever is in charge of ratings or whatever saw that there are mods to make underwear and tops go away. Ya I know, they are mods but that shows how stupid the ratings people are.

And yet Morrowind had a strip bar, a homosixual House Hlaalu councilman that asks to take off your clothes in return for a favor, and a Demora that threatens to "[censored] your corpse", and the game is T

It will probably be rated M, however Bethesda doesn't have a completed project and doesn't have an idea if certain elements will be in the game or not, so they can't actually submit it to be rated yet.

I hope M, which is the equivalent of an 18 over here in the UK I think, which I would be happy about. Especially now that I am actually old enough to play it. Teehee.
No but seriously, if it is an 18 then that should mean it's a much more mature game. Hopefully.

Todd expects an M and Bethesda isn't aiming for a family-friendly game after Fallout 3, so I'd say M too.

Rating isn't established until they are done adding content.

Incorrect. There were no nipbles, it was barbie doll nudity.

"why is the rating pending"

Becuase bethesda hasn't sent the game to the ESRB to be rated yet.
Not that hard to figure out.

Anyway, it will likely be M

They won't send it until the game goes gold. When a game goes gold it's sent off to be mass produced and shipped, usually a month or so before the game's release. It will not be submitted to the ESRB until it is done and ready for distribution.
Expect a rating to surface around late September or early October along with the news that the game has gone gold.

it wasn't just nipbles. the nipbles only caused the ESRB to re-review the game, whereupon they found such delightful things as Lucien Lachance hanging naked and skinned from a ceiling, and a room full of corpses and blood and a decaying head, and decided "hey, maybe 13-year-olds shouldn't be seeing this".

Skyrim will be M guaranteed. the only reason it's not yet is because it's not in a finished enough state for them to worry about shipping off a once-over to the ESRB.

Yes, actually, you would mind AO. Something like 99% of retailers simply refuse to sell AO games, so you'd only be able to get it on steam or import it - either way you can only buy it online.

The poll order is kind of off isn't it? I'm not all that familiar with the different ratings, but A is much more restrictive than M isn't it?

Anyway, it will almost certainly be M. I agree with the post that said 99.9% chance of M.

And I suspect the reason it hasn't been rated yet is just because the people that rate these things have not yet gotten a "completed" copy or just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Good to see you know what I would or wouldnt like. and yea obviously nobody sells AO games, thats something everbody knows. And buying online could be rather easy actually. (depending on how its done.)

I was actually serious about wanting it to be AO. Im just saying I wouldnt care either way.

I thought that it got changed to M mostly because the ratings boards hadn't realised (from Bethesda's description and submitted art samples) that there was quite so much in the way of impaled and burnt corpses, plus those splayed out and cut open, in Kvatch and the Daedric zones. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ESRB_re-rating_of_The_Elder_Scrolls_IV:_Oblivion#ESRB_re-review_and_rating_change The possibility to unlock nudity would have figured too (in conjunction with the bloody combat) in the wake of GTA's Hot Coffee mod, but wasn't the only factor.
