Stone Quarry Clay Pit Locations

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 2:47 pm

So I was sent to kill the leader of Bilegulch Mine, and outside of the mine door to the left there is a stone quarry. Up until now I thought they were only available at the house locations, but Bethesda must have scattered a few around. It's the only one I've found, but I'm assuming there must be more, and if they took the time to place stone quarries, there must be clay pits scattered about as well. So I'm going to make a list if anyone else has seen more, starting with the one at Bilegulch mine.

There is a stone quarry and a clay pit within the vicinity of each of the three new purchasable plots of land.

Stone Quarry Locations:

Bilegulch Mine - To the left when facing the entrance.

East side of Whiterun, directly behind the Battle-Born farm's residence.

Falkreath, just hug the cliff at the bottom and somewhere around the fence near the barracks is the stone quarry

Clay Pit Locations:

On the bank of the sea just north of Solitude's Arch.

I remember seeing some clay somewhere on the other side of Lake Ilinalta, across from Lakeview Manor. I was also surprised by the fact that they added the deposits elsewhere in the world, in spite of how they never(?) run dry.

There's both a stone and clay quarry next to the soon-to-be-a-house location in Falkreath, which is awesomely convenient, by the way.

There's also a clay quarry on the other side of the river under Valtheim Keep.

Dang, I also found another stone quarry around Whiterun, but now can't remember where it was. Sorry.

I actually didn't see that my house had a stone quarry, and kept running back and forth from there to Falkreath.

I didn't see it at first, either, though I had been mining stone and clay before getting a single deed (the internet spoiled me on what I needed). I was hoarding these and iron ore (still am).

For those curious of the stone quarry: to the left of the drafting table, follow the rock wall until you see a change in pattern. It's the "light" stone at the end. :)

I've seen a lot of clay deposits in the game, no stone locations outside of the house locations though. I need to keep my eye open for them.

I know I saw a clay deposit on the river from Riverwood to Whiterun, and a couple by rivers near Markarth.

I'm sure precise locations would be more helpful than general. That's the point of the thread, precise locations. :)

Updated with several of the listed locations. I'm still running around in game confirming them, but I'm sure they're all good.

Directions from, say, the Inn, please?

(Reason for asking: Uriel posts all this information in one of the game wikis, so to save him some time (and his sanity), it's best to give him some solid directions to work with, yes?)

Clay pit: Whiterun. It's on the South bank of the river running along the SE section of the city, directly West of the bridge.

It is part of the stone cliff bordering the northern edge of the farm field on the north east end of the village.

Well, with three straight days of gaming, I can say this: there are many clay and stone quarries throughout Skyrim, and many are well hidden. It's going to take a great deal of work to list them all out.

My apologies, but I didn't note down locations because I thought their positions weren't of any benefit. For example, on my way to fighting a dragon outside of Riften, there's a stone quarry on the way to the path. Given how far this is away from any house, it didn't seem worthwhile to note.

I can't imagine these are helpful to earn cash, either. Clay offers no cash (early level Speech, I'm assuming) and stone is 1 gold per, which is a considerable amount of weight to carry just for 1 gold per. Even an iron dagger nets a better trade off weight-to-gold, and can carry just as many.

I found a clay deposit next to the river running from Riverwood to Whiterun, on the left of the river(facing the direction the current is heading) just at the waterfalls.
