stop hating on Oblivion!and Skyrim will be awesome

Post » Sun Aug 08, 2010 4:46 pm

i am starting this topic because of the thread i stumbled upon call "are tes games going continued t be simplified?"Oblivion was great, and so was Morrowind!(idk about daggerfall still trying to get it to work.) i like low fantasy and oblivion was deep, long and provided a lot of lore.and the Lord of the Rings inspired landscapes were great.and Skyrim will be even better than Oblivion and Morrowind!(most likely  )

I bought it, I thought it was dumbed down, so I have the right to complain. It was cliche and rediculous (moreso than Morrowind's main quest, even). Every faction embodied White and Black. I'm sorry, but Oblivion wasn't as amazing as fan(atics) make it out to be.

And by every faction, I mean the 5 compared to 10.

... Jesus. I loved Oblivion's gameplay and quests, I loved Morrowind's ambiance and lore, each game had its qualities and its defaults, can we stop those incomprehensible one sided threads ? And yes, op, I get you're tongue-in-cheek, but I doubt all the answers will be. :P

Is there a point to this thread besides complaining about others complaining?

So people are allowed to perpetually praise Morrowind but not Oblivion?

With that logic, Morrowind wasn't a great game either. Since, you know, there seems to be an abundance of Morrowind "fan(atics)" on these boards (moreso than Oblivion), who go on and on singing praises about Morrowind all the while bashing Oblivion and the people who enjoyed it ("casual gamers"). Now don't get me wrong, Morrowind is a fantastic game; but believe it or not, some people feel the same way about Oblivion - and that is their right. I personally enjoyed both games for what they are, not for what they "should" or "should not" have been.

To be honest, once the stream of new information from the Game Informer hub dries up, this is probably going to get worse

In the absence of new information, people are quite likely going to descend into making stuff up. And threads like this will be the norm

I'm thinking of coming to this forum less for a few months

I'm not hating Oblivion, but I see it completely different than how you see it. For me it *was* simplified, rushed, not so deep, and the landscapes were boring. I don't even think it was low fantasy. The Witcher is low fantasy.

I don't know... I liked Oblivion. A lot. Did it have its faults? Sure, but that didn't stop me from enjoying it. I just tried to do the things that I liked and avoid the things that I didn't (namely, the eponymous realm of Oblivion, which was obviously not completely avoidable--but I didn't close any more Oblivion gates than I absolutely had to).

did you say "fan(atics)"fanatics?really your calling TES fans who thinks Oblivion was a great game fanatics?[censored] what is with you people....Oblivion was not a black and white game...the quest were interesting, had multipule out comes somtimes, there were alot of them, and the world was ineractive and large...jeez.and you cant beat the classic Oblivion Dark Brotherhood quests

In all fairness, "fan" is short for "fanatic." I realize this connection has been weakened in the hundred years or so since it was first made, but it's still there. I don't mind people calling me an Oblivion fanatic. I'll proudly own up to that.

No it's not. A debate is won or lost by logical points. This subject has bull headed people on side versus bull headed people on the other, and never the twain shall meet. Let it slide folks.
