Stop, no more, I yield! I yield!

Post » Wed Apr 17, 2013 4:57 am

Dovahkiin charges into battle, felling scores the Thalmor like the dogs they are, yet a cry of mercy rings out from the last opponent, causing the Dragonborn to stay her blade in an act of chivalry . Yet, no sooner does the Dragonborn turn to collect the loot a knife plunges into her knee from the now healed Thalmor agent. What is the point in NPCs begging for mercy after being so severely beaten if they are only going to attack the Dragonborn as soon as they are partly healed?

They are trying to play on your mercy. Solution: give them none.

Because hack-and-slash games don't have room for non-lethal solutions.

If that was a Thalmor agent then you should have just killed the ass wipe and not yielded, the Aldmeri Dominion that was around during the time of the upcoming mmo was probably a lot better than the current one.

This. They are just buying time to heal up and try again.

(obviously lacking Game Mechanics, but we make of what we have, right?)

I seriously hate that, op. I also hate that when bandits/enemies run away scared, my follower always chases them down. Like, just let em go, who cares Jordis

I'd show mercy to almost anyone who asks at least once, if it actually meant anything that is. It's honorable to show mercy to a foe you've defeated. If he swears on his own honor to never takeup arms against me or my causes again- let him go back to his family and live in peace.

I blame this game mechanic on the game obviously being designed for the CoD/GTA crowd.

Imagine how much prisoners you would end up with if you decided to capture everyone who yields. The Jails in Skyrim would all be overflowing with milkdrinkers and Thonar Silver-blood would be like

Not FOR but more TOWARDS.

Games have to attract consumers, consumers generate profit.

If more people like the game this way then it will generate positive results. Skyrim was the best selling game in the series, thus apparently this formula is working, not overly complicated mechanics and level system.

The Vigilant of Stendarr aren't Stendarr o.o
I sort of doubt they even follow his teachings, rather they just use him as an excuse to kill undead things.
