I agree. The graphics are better than crysis 1. It is just angry peeps that wanted a 3x graphical leap so they could not run the game.
Agreed.

I agree overall as well. However, there were threads on here that showed close-ups of textures from both games and the Crysis 1 textures were definetly of a higher resolution than the Crysis 2 textures. Sorry, but I don't have the link and am not going to waste hours of my time searching through pages of mostly useless crap threads on this forum to find it.

But I think Crysis 2 is more photo-realistic looking. Textures having a higher res don't necessarily make for a more realistic looking game.

Are you 100% sure those pics were of vanilla Crysis 1 though and not with a texture mod? Also remember that Crysis 1 textures are VERY inconsistent. Tons of low-res textures all over the place but then you see very sharp and detailed textures in other places as I mentioned. It's very inconsistent. I could take a bunch of screenshots of C1 to prove this if I cared enough to spend the time. I have no doubt Crysis 2 is the same way in terms of texture consistency.

Nope, lighting is a generation ahead. You have no clue about tech and lighting. It's 100% REAL-TIME global illumination with the most real-time light sources and shadows ever seen in a game. It's a massive leap in lighting technology. Sorry.

I hadn't noticed that textures were all over the place in the first one. The ones I noticed were mostly the gravel roads and the fabric on the normal KPA uniforms.

And I am not 100% sure if it was un-moded. But it was from the single player campaign and not a level someone made.

In the end that is all trivial as I also think Crysis 2 looks better overall, whether the textures are as high res or not. Like I said, making something higher-res doesn't always end up making it look more life-like.

You're confusing GIL with a large increase in the number of dynamic light sources. They are related, but completely different.

For a person with a MS in CS, you type like an illiterate 12-year old so yeah, your opinion isn't one I'm going to take seriously. You don't even refute any of the points people have made. You just type a borderline illiterate sentence and act like you're right. Ignored.

Regardless of the tech jargon and semantics, all that needs to be said is that there is no other game out now or coming out in the very near future that has better lighting and shadowing than Crysis 2. It's in a league of its own, period.

Except Crysis which has dynamic shadows with a day and night cycle.

Since the tech jargon is apparently out of your league, you have resorted to going back to blatant opinion with nothing being backed up.

It's nice to see you dropped the name calling though.

AF might solve blurry textures but I forget it doesnt have custom settings............plus software based AA is causing even more blurryness.............they did it so that ppl with low end hardware *cough*...amd 5770 and 5750 *cough* can play it

graphics look worse than Crysis 1

Much worse. Piss poor view distance, low-resolution textures, **** detailing and DX9. I'm sorry you have a steaming pile for a computer. I can run Crysis 1 on Very High with 8xQ AA at 2560x1600 at about 50-60fps with my setup. The steaming console-port turd that is Crysis 2 looks like freaking ass compared to Crysis 1 on those settings. And yes, I have run the single player campaign. You're freaking delusional, it's terrible. Bring on Battlefield 3 and truly groundbreaking graphics!

Crysis 2 = Maximum turd Maximum fail on a corridor shooter and no more sandbox, maximum fail on DX9, maximum fail on 8v8 multiplayer, maximum fail on craptastic graphics. MAXIMUM FAIL.

MAXIMUM CONSOLE PORT

Crysis 2:

- Better overall graphics
- Infinitely better lighting and shadowing system, a generation ahead
- Textures are equal (go load up Crysis 1 vanilla right now and take a look at the beach, mountains, structures, you blind fools)
- Better character models
- Better post-processing effects

And the second half of Crysis 1 was very linear, which is something all you people forget. And Crysis 2 campaign is much more open than you think. Read some impressions instead of making blind assumptions. Ignorant, elitist kids.

Crysis 2 is better technically than Crysis 1. That's all that needs to be said. Done.

You can't say that with any credibility until Crysis 2 hits tomorrow. The fact is the Beta and the MP demo were significantly worse technically speaking than Crysis 1. And until the game is launched that's what we have to go off of.

MP demo versus Crysis 1 SP does not = a fair comparison. Watch the Crysis 2 PC campaign footage and compare it to vanilla Crysis 1. No contest. Crysis 2 wins. Monty wins. Everyone wins.

Wow, you really need to slow down and read. I said since the Demo is the only real, tangible thing Crytek has released showcasing the capabilities of Crysis2, the Demo is what everything has to be compared to until the game is released.

And if you're talking about the PC campaign footage users have uploaded if they got their copy early, that's just showing even more reason as to why at this point in time Crysis 2 is worse technically than Crysis 1. Out of the box, at this very moment, the retail and download version is DX9 only. Therefore all this PC campaign footage you're going on about is all in DX9. That puts it miles below Crysis 1 from a technical standpoint merely for the simple fact Crysis 1 heavily employed the use of DX10.

When Crytek releases the DX11 patch then we can revisit this argument. But at this moment in time, Crysis 2 is far inferior to Crysis 1 from a graphical standpoint.

If Crysis 2 remains unmodable (which i think will not happen..but we have to wait until the summer realesae of sandbox3) then Crysis 1 wins big time.Add msters config 3.01 and see the lighting advantage of Crysis 2 get almost blown away. In C2 especially the craters in the streets use some really low res textures. Its fact that Crysis 1 has the higher amount of high res textures while Crysis 2 uses less of these @ this time.

I also think that a DX11 patch wont bring as much as the modders could do with Crysis 2.
