Stop with the Dragons now, getting bored

Post » Thu Dec 26, 2013 3:00 am

Completed the main quest and most of the side quests a loooooong time ago. I've got all the shouts and all the words of power, I've got 22 unspent dragon souls I can no longer do anything with. And every time I fast travel...f'ing dragons. Usually two...every freaking time.

Getting bored now please go away!

It is my understanding there is no console command to turn them off completely...? I'd rather do that than run another mod if possible. I've taken to waiting for them to come near then "disable" the damn things. After killing many, many of the things I really can't be arsed no more.

But I've still got some side quests to complete and still some places not yet discovered so I'd rather finish those off and not have to worry that I can't fast travel because there's a damn dragon two bloody miles away.

Yeah . . .

I am not sure what complaining to us is going to do to be completely honest but they are there if you want to kill dragons. The role playing aspect is very high and you could have ya know done those quests before the main quest and done anything that is connected to the main quest before completing the main quest.

Stop fast travelling and you'll have far less dragons.

That too but if you want to role play as a dragon slayer then the dragon souls do not really mean anything. The scales and bones can be trophies.

I'm a console user, but I've encountered this console command:

set MQ106TurnOffRandomDragons 1

The user said this also affected his/her other save files. So use with caution.

I've also heard good things about http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/9557/?, but I've no idea if it disables dragons.

I see very few dragons since I stopped fast travelling. If I really want to get somewhere quick I take a carriage which doesn't seem to lead to endless dragon encounters either.

Dragons don't even bother me xD. If I see them, I usually just keep going on my way (Even if they try and attack me).

I fast travel a lot and I don't see many dragons around -I have to go looking for them myself nowadays.

Back in the pre-1.9 days however, Dawnstar and the College of Winterhold were my game's dragon hotspots. I must've brought down more than a thousand of them over my playthroughs and almost half of the kills must've taken place to either of those two locations.

Are you finding it boring because the battles are too easy? If so run in with a fork on Legendary difficulty. :P

In all seriousness, if that is the reason try upping the difficulty and wearing so lower level gear to make it challenging again. I love tough dragon fights.

Not so sure about that. I think that once you know how to get them down and kill them without taking any damage to your character irrespective of your difficulty setting, they become more of a nuisance than any sort of challenge.

Cliff racers were a nuisance.

Dragons are okay when compared to those damn things lmao.

Well, yeah the dragons are too easy. Fully smithed up dragon bane and all the shouts make dragon fights a bore. In any case the main story was supposed to stop them or at the very least reduce them.

Maybe not quite what you're looking for - I've been using the 'dragon repellent' necklace from http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/21615/? and it works as advertised.

Indeed so - the first time I finished the MQ I had nearly 190 dragon souls, along with hundreds of dragon bones and scales. Fighting any dragon became fairly easy and tedious. Main reason I started using mods

Hmm. Well I find dragons challenging at least. xD

There's many ways to impair yourself in Skyrim if it gets too easy. Armour? I'm a cat..

I just run a mod that removes the dragons after the MQ.

nope, it is no bug or anything, unlike the MQ of Oblivion, there was never supposed to be anything to stop or slow dragons from appearing.

Bzzz. Not going to agree with this. The higher the level, the more dragon attacks there are. I'm now seeing a dragon attack everywhere I go. I just walked from Whiterun to Solitude and had 4 separate encounter: 1 near the road headed to Markarth, the other swooped down just a few minutes past that area, one attack near Robber's Gorge, and the last one at Solitude.

I also get tired of fighting them. They're incessant and they don't belong there. Alduin is long gone in my game as well, and having just turned level 50.... *sigh*

Respawning dragons. Now there's a brilliant idea.

Strange. I play on the xbox and I'm at level 53, never FT and I probably only encounter a dragon about once every 5 hours of real time.

There is a dragon spawn every seventy two hours. Cannot say what the respawn time is after 1.9 after the main quest has concluded I have not tested the time.
