[REQ] Storage

Post » Thu Jan 28, 2010 3:17 am

I would love to be able to purchase from a vendor footlockers, ammo boxes, chests, any and all things to store stuff in. I'd even love to be able to buy some shelves to hold my junk or even some tables or whatever to put things on.

Sometimes it's great to see what my char has gotten, other times it's fine to have a locker to store all those extra sets of clothes.

Anyway, if there's a way to do this, I'd appreciate it.

It may not do all you want, but the first stages of something like that are here: http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34931

Thx ... that's a help.

At least in the short run it will help clear out some of my stuff and I like that you can drop it and pick it back up again. I'd still like some more storage areas for my char, but this backpack looks cool.

That would be great, but it would mean my char has to move. What I hoped for was being able to get some storage containers or shelves for a shack I'm already living in.

I see, yeah you would have a move to use that mod, fortunately there are express drop boxes around to make it much easier. There is one actually on the strip.

As an alternative mobile containers and furnitures are abit tricky, I would personally fire up the GECK and just add them yourself, or if you can point us to the location of where your shack is exactly i might be able to throw something together for you (wouldnt be anything like my Lucky 38 suite mod however, just containers/shelves and mabe some worktops)

If you particularly want that shack then it'd probably be a lot easier just to use GECK and add some containers to it yourself.

The thing with moveable furniture is that you have an extra message box before you get to open them. Also, I'd want to do them right and cheat free--they would remember what is put into them and weight a ton for the bigger stuff. If you are okay with that, pick out a couple models and I'll see if I can get around to starting them this weekend.

I'm going to hold off on more sorting scripts until I see what kind of support gets added to NVSE, but the rest is nearly a copy a paste from an earlier version of my backpack mod. Then there's the vendor consideration, but I'll figure that out I suppose.

I tried checking out the GECK and soon got baffled.

All I really wanted was a footlocker or two, a locker or two, and maybe another gun case and working refrigerator in the abandoned shack near the memorial. I'd like to get rid of the existing, bent shelf and get a straight one, too, just cuz it would mean extra storage space.

I tried deleting the overturned table in the middle of the place and couldn't even do that!

I think I can help with cleaning up your place too through a mod. I'm going to test out some scripts tonight for claiming a space as your own.

That would be awesome. In the meantime, I'm still trying to get my head around the GECK. Thx for responding to my plea!

You're welcome. It's an interesting problem. If I can do what I think I can do, it should be useful for many. I need to think of a name now...Kobu's Moving Service maybe.

I do though suggest learning the basics of the GECK. http://geck.gamesas.com/index.php/Main_Page It's very rewarding.

There was a mod in FO3 that let me get a whole bunch of milk crates, but that was kludged by going to a new place and fast traveling back. Yeah, it worked, but ...

I remember people doing this for Oblivion, so I guess that's what I was thinking.

Lame Gamer GECK progress: I found the interior and have been able to swap some things for others I want. Can't move anything or add new items, yet, but I'm thinking it should be possible!

If I remember right, that cell has some kind of giant special effect marker in it that makes it so you can't select objects in the actual render window. Very annoying. You can still open things up in the cell's reference list and move them by manually altering their positions.

The tests worked well. I'm going to need NVSE to do the static objects, so it will be until whenever that gets released before I can really start work on this.

Found it too, Ill do a little mod for it tomorrow, should be able to give it that abandoned untidy aspect if thats what your after so you can tidy it up yourself and decorate it the way you want (without removing anything else so you can basically just upgrade your current game), i can also add a workbench and 'campfire oven' plus more storage. I also noticed that there is a very similiar interior available that is twice as big as that one, would give you alot more space if you want that? or would you prefer to have it the same size as it is now?
