Storing built items in workshop

After you build a store and you change your mind and you store it in the workshop do you get all the materials back that you used to build it in the first place including the caps?

No, but you can place it in the same settlement again without any extra cost. It's not ~physically~ stored in the Workbench, it's just ~available~ for free if you "store" it. But only at THAT settlement.

Just to clarify, this is if you STORE the store (or crafting station or wall segment or chair or whatever). If you ~scrap~ it (if you even CAN) then you would get the components back --- not sure about the money in that case, though.

So you don't get charged for the caps again. I built three stores and realized I really didn't have enough settlers to Mann them so I store them in the workshop but I had already spent a bunch of caps

Once settlement item stored back in workshop, youre not charge again. Same goes for turrets etc, you don't need to spend metals again.

If its stored in the workshop it is not scrapped, its a built piece sitting in your workshop. The only way to get some stuff back from it is scrapping it.

I have stored 3 shops that I built in the workshop. Now that I have enough settlers to assign to the shops I want to place them from the workshop. The question is will I have to pay

the cap charge again to rebuild.

If you were to receive any caps back when storing it you would, BUT since caps are part of the materials cost to build it, you will NOT get charged again, as you already spent the necessary building materials, including caps.

You're welcome :). Ohhh...

Also, when you sharp items you do NOT get back all the components you used to build it. Hence why it is better to store built items.
