The player is the last Dragonborn unfortunately. And Talos himself says that it's time for something new.

Not really, Ulfric is breaking the unity of the human races, he is not only weakening humanity but he is weakening skyrim itself. The Empire is planning a counter strike on the Dominion, nothing states the Elder Council is trying to stop it, with humanity divided into separate powers there isn't any unity and a second great war would most likely not happen if the Empire fell. Sure Ulfric makes speeches about fighting the Thalmor and the Dominion but he hasn't made any plans on attacking there whereas we know the empire is planning an attack.

Yes and something new has come, the spetim dynasty is gone and dead and a new force controls the empire.

Well, since the Dragonborn thingy isn't strictly hereditary(read Book of the Dragonborn), and that we're called the Last Dragonborn, I kinda doubt that happens.

Both sides are crappy, but I'm of the opinion that the Empire is less crappy.

Wulf right? Hmm. Didn't he say that during Morrowind? During the time of the Septim dynasty?

Nope. The Empire is breaking the unity of the Human races.

*Giving Hammerfell to the Dominion

*Outlawing Talos worship and giving all worshipers to the Thalmor for torture-murder

*Allowing Thalmor agents discretion to murder as they please, but not giving right to defend ones self against Thalmor agents.

Walk next to an agent near any Imperial guard until the Thalmor attack you. The guard will do nothing. Defend yourself. The guard will aid the Thalmor.

Yes.

Stormcloaks - Just can't get past that the Thalmor Dossier on Ulfric says:

Imperials - The Emporer is about to be assassinated on orders of a member, or maybe multiple members of the Elder Council. How can I support a weak Empire with resources spread thin (the Imperial Legates in camps talk about this lack of reinforcement and having to recruit locally), that is about to implode.

So all in all, I support Whiterun...until I do the CW quest.

I can't recall coming across information that the Empire was about to launch an attack on the Thalmor, where is it?

Well,

Spoiler
Tullius says that the Emperor is the one planning to fight the Dominion, and he gets killed by the Elder Council through the Dark Brotherhood for unspecified reasons. Seems kinda suspect.

Under normal circumstances I might agree that Ulfric was weakening Humanity, but with the great Wildcard in the Empire's leadership, I'd say it is in humanity's best interest that Skyrim don't get involved in a petty power dispute in Cyrodiil.

I think its annoying with people just coming here to complain on civil war threads. Why dont just ignore the topic and go away? I Find these topics interesting and entertaining :)

The wildcard is again, nothing but speculation at best. Now I'm not denying it it could happen but saying it's the wildcard is a long stretch, we don't know what anything is like in cyrodiil right now besides a few vague things so we can't really say what will happen. We don't know if there will be a large power dispute in cyrodiil because it's not always a large power dispute whenever a new heir is chosen otherwise there would be a civil war everytime a new emperor has been chosen which there hasn't been.

He says it in Morrowind, during the SEPTIM dynasty. It's completely irrelevant to the Medes dynasty or to current events and thus proves nothing nor does it boost Treng's arguments at all.

In Morrowind just before you go to fight Dagoth Ur he'll be in Ghostgate. He says a line that is in my signature and gives you a lucky coin with Tiber's face on it.

I know, that is why I call it a Wildcard. But you don't have any ground to say there will be a good outcome either, at all. we don't even know if there is an heir. That is purely speculation as well. What we do know is that the Empire's leadership is in a state of great uncertainty, which is not exactly helping the argument of staying in the Empire = Not weakening humanity. It kinda makes it look like wishful thinking.

Empire didn't gave Thalmor Hammerfell, they are still independed.

And they only agreed to the Wihte-Gold Concordat because they would have destoryed whole Empire and Skyrim itself.

And they did refuse same ultimatum before of the start of the First Great war.

Just a question on this. How long should they wait for the empire to get its [censored] together before taking action? 5 more years? 10? 20? 100? Should they wait until the thalmor have infiltrated every aspect of government, recovered their own losses, and are completely ready to strike?

By Ysmir, this looks like one Oblivion of a party.

Anyway, I prefer the Stormcloaks over the Empire because of reasons.

Yes it did. Check the terms of the WGC. The Redguards told Mede to pike off and continued fighting the Thalmor. Mede was forced to relinquish Hammerfell of its Imperial Province status.

No they wouldn't have, but the Empire did have reason to believe it at the time. Several books, however, plainly state that the Thalmor is worse off than the Empire after the Great War, including one written by the Empire. It's been 26 years since the Great War and the Empire knows the Thalmor is powerless, yet they continue aiding the Thalmor.

That's true. Then they accepted the very same ultimatum instead of working it down. They also continued adhering to it 26 years after finding out the Thalmor were literally toothless.
