Stormcloak vs Imperial

Post » Wed Jul 17, 2013 4:56 am

What's your opinion on the two?

Which side do you usually join.

I dislike them both and usually call for a treaty by following the main quest line. They both have Ulterior motives behind what they do. In the end, however, I would usually join the stormcloaks so I could get General Tullius' armor.

Stormcloaks are trying to do good. Imperials are also trying to do good.

I mostly join the Stormcloaks.

Join the Dragon Cult and avoid this pointless war.

I support the Empire but I also respect the cause of the Stormcloaks. I fully understand why they do what they.

I would love Skyrim to remain part of the Empire. It's tough, I know. But Jarl Igrod said it best. "Now is not the time to fight amongst ourselves, dark days are approaching".

I would like Skyrim to remain a part of the Empire until the Thalmor threat is taken care of. I would gladly support Skyrims independence if they leave on good terms with Cyrodill. I want them to remain allies and friends. Not bitter enemies.

The most commonly recurring topic on the forums. However, even after 3500+ hrs of gameplay, I have yet to even start the CW questline.

That is, aside from the initial journal entry you get from simply walking past either party.

The Elder Council is the proeprty of the Thalmor and have had the Emperor assassinated coincidentally when he was about to lead a war against the Thalmor.

Stormcloaks are righteous. The Empire is a den of evil.

In the end, however, Ulfric is essentially going to war to become high-king. He is seeking power.

I support the Stormcloaks for dozens of reasons that I get tired of listing. Basically, I think independence is, in virtually every way better for Skyrin than being under the rule of the Empire. Also, religious persecution is a big no no in my book, and the Stormcloaks are actually willing to fight against it.
Yes, holding onto Skyrim is better for the Empire, but I honestly don't give a crap about the current Empire anyway, and am eagerly anticipating the day of its seemingly inevitable collapse.

Also, Nords are my favorite race, and as Tdroid pointed out to me, the fruits of biggest accomplishments were made moot by the inclusion of Imperials in the series in Morrowind. They deserve something to be remembered for. Defeating the Imperials and gaining your independence will be remembered. Some rebellion getting crushed wont.

It's asinine (and also unfounded/improvable) to suggest that's his only goal. He tried to initiate freedom from the Slave Empire long before he challenged Torygg for the throne. The jarls would only listen once Ulfric announced his candidacy by defeating Torygg.

Nevermind that the Empire is greedier in this endeavor, bribing jarls with gold to accept their decisions and elect their puppet kings.

OP asked our opinions on this controversial issue. OP started the "pointless debate." If you don't enjoy discussing it, please excuse yourself and do not comment in these threads.

I really don't get why you think the Stormcloaks are flawless and perfect. They aren't angels, yet you treat them as such.

So? Practically everyone is seeking power. He is seeking power for the benefit of Skyrim, so I don't see the problem with it. Someone has to.

Talos, Titus Mede, the Dovakiin, the Tribunal, and a crap ton of others also were power hungry. That isn't an inherently a bad thing.

I don't think they're flawless or perfect. I just think they're a much better option than the Empire; so much so that voting Imperial is a bad/terrible/awful/ill conceived decision, imo.

Graymane or Battleborn

Hrothgar or Blades

Volkihar or Dawnguard

Mcdonalds or Burgerking

There is no right answer.

Except on the Dawnguard.

You save alot of digital lifes.

Did you not read what I had posted? He tried to do this without being High King. It wasn't his first goal. He's doing it because he literally has to in order to maintain support.

The stormcloak cause is alright but I don't respect the leader or the time it's being waged, if it was after the second great war then go ahead, not like I'd care but since it's before the upcoming second great war it's essentially hurting humanity and I don't respect the leader because he hasn't proven to be a good leader or skilled at anything most of the stuff people call him (like master diplomat, warrior, general etc etc) is nothing but hero worship.

The Empire is good because they are the last hope for humanity, without them the whole plan to attack the Dominion falls to ruin and this so called "alliance" theory stormcloak supporters throw around (all the newly independent nations joining together in a alliance should the stormcloaks win) is BS and nothing but speculation that doesn't fit The Elder Scrolls. Also the Empire brings trade and food and I'd rather fight for a trained army then a peasant rebellion with little to no training that can't even manage to fight a small regiment of the Imperial Legion.

You are damm right, and this is pointles, to me both sides are evil.

And Bethesda did really bad job about CW storyline.

I liked 3rd Empire, from past Elder Scrolls series, and Septim dynasty, a lot in fact. But this new Empire, is weak, corrupt and only look for themselfs. Tough Ulfric is right, and have noble cause, tough he is a little racist to me, don't like other races, and only want Skyrim for Nords, but I also don't want that Empire be destoyed and shatered, I would like that someone renew Empire to it's former glory, like in times of Tiber Septim. And give a good kick in face to the Thalmor, so that they will never think again of trying to attack the Emprie again.

The Empire does not bring trade or food. The East Empire Company is not Empire controlled. An alliance of nations is not only not BS, but the Empire ascertaining control of Hammerfell is. You say the Empire is good, but the Elder Council is property of the Thalmor and killed the Emperor for wanting to take war to the Thalmor. Now the Empire will enter into civil war and Skyrim will sink with it (if Tullius's side wins the Civil War in Skyrim.)

Nevermind that the Empire approves of and aids in the Thalmor's kidnap and torture-murder.
