Stormcloaks discussion

Post » Thu Aug 18, 2011 8:13 pm

Stormcloaks are going to be the rebel faction in Skyrim. I'm hoping that they have the rebel feel to them since they are going up against a military power and all. I wanna see something along the lines of guerilla warefare ambushes on patrols of guards. I want to get that feeling of I am a part of a group of people that meet in secret places such as caves or maybe there's a house in each town with a hidden trap door for rebels to plan their next assault. What do you guys think?

It's hard to tell at this point. I want some good rewards if I'm going to join ANY faction, since I can't take the throne myself ;) (Don't think so anyway).

I will enter every one of their "bases" and give them one chance to stop the fighting or I will report them to the Empire. If they attack me, well any less rebels is a good thing.

Which brings up another question and I'm too lazy to start a new topic: Who's executing you at the beginning? The Rebels or the Empire?

Why would they be "secret"? If theres a civil war about to explode, everybody knows who are the guys that are going against the other guys. A "secret" organization is a subversive organization, and subversion is not a civil war.

Probably the empire is my guess. Just because they seem more likely to execute somebody period. I like how gamesas always puts you in imprisonment at the start of thier games since there are multiple ways to rp how your character got there. I'm gonna say my character was caught crossing the border as a suspected rebel.

We never know, if they are fighting a superior force you don't want to be in the open because the enemy will quickly attack and destroy you

DOWN WITH THE REBELLION!

But seriously, I hope we get a choice to join either side. I don't want to be forced into being a rebel against the empire if I don't want to....just because rebels are almost ALWAYS seen as the heroes in movies, games etc (thanks star wars...)

I mean, oblivion had you fighting to defend the empire's capital province...and now in skyrim were going to fight against them?

I want both options to be in the game. However, if we are only given one, I'll be cool with that too. (Not liking a small aspect of the game and yet still enjoying it? I know, I'm crazy)

I'm kind of hoping they are the caliber of rebels that the rebels were in Half Life 2. real secretive but when crap hits the fan they start a total effing anarchy.

@Nomad I'm more than certain that gamesas will make it so both sides are joinable if not I'd be surprised for sure. Also you're not crazy for not liking something and still sort of enjoying it. I do that too.

Yeah probably, but another good question: Just how tyrannical is the Empire now? Do my fellow Nords have reason to want to fight against the new rulers or are they just seeking war again? I know that the Septims have a reletivly good reputation but we do not know much about the current Emperor.

Seems like a mythic dawn point of view, except for a different cause. I would like it.

Well, let me just say that the best part about a "secret" is secretly telling someone your secret, thereby secretly adding another secret into their secret collection of secrets, secretly.

I can't find it right now but one of the hands on playthrough journalists found them and was about to attend one of thier meetings until he saw he was running out of time. I think it was the travel north one. Sorry I don't have link.

@xBummx i haven't seen word on how tyrannical the empire has become but certainly tyrannical enough to cause a rebellion. Or it could be Nords overreacting. :spotted owl:

Sorry. http://www.gameinformer.com/games/the_elder_scrolls_v_skyrim/b/xbox360/archive/2011/08/05/skyrim-hands-on-impressions.aspx doesn't exactly cofirm they are rebels but it does confirm they exist, it was the best i could do for now.

love the hidden cellar idea
itd be pretty cool to go down a trap door in the back of a butchers shop to see rebels around a dimly lit table planning mischievous activities
the guerrilla warfare would make a lot of sense too and make you actually feel like the weaker force having to use sneak attacks and the like to beat a larger militant force
but im guessing theyll drop the ball with the rebel feel of the stormcloaks
itl probably feel virtually the same as the other side, with a few changes in a handfull of quests, and different characters to interact with
