Storms in the southeast

Post » Thu Sep 30, 2010 4:51 pm

Just got home after weathering the worst storm of this year. (No pun intended)

Anyway, there's a bunch of warnings going for SE Tennessee, N Georgia, Alabama and more. I'm trying to find a news site with some pictures right now.

Anyone else live in these areas? We've got trees down all over the place here and even had a building collapse. I also saw a billboard that was ripped in half on the way home.

There's also a Tornado Watch in effect until 8pm EST.

I guess the bright side is that it wasn't an attached carport :/

It's been pouring the rain since the middle of the night with occasional large claps of thunder. It sounds like there is a rabid squirrel on my deck right now trying to get out of the downpour. I'm hiding from it.

WNC here, they're saying on the news that the worst of it will be overnight. The cars are in the garage, and all of the dead limbs and trees have been cut. We'll see what the morning brings!

I live in southwestern North Carolina. At around 5, things went calm and the sky turned greenish (both are signs, I know). My dogs started throwing a fit about nothing. Then it started raining. Then it started blowing. I saw a neighbor's trashcan fall over and get swept halfway across the street. I ducked down in the basemant for a few hours. Just came out and it's calmed down a bit.

I live in the Atlanta area and was at work for the storm, so I just heard torrents of rain pouring down on the store. Looks like the power didn't even go out here.

I would assume all is well there. I live in Grayson, so it's about an hour and a half distance.
