Story quest supplements

what would you like to see in the writing?

I would like to see a little more color in the writing this time around, by that I mean depth, emotional draw on the character, easter eggs. Be it a DLC or on 11.11.11 I think it needs a boost in this department. I want more tragedy, temptation, virtue, and creativity involved. Games need to get to a point where they rival Shakespeare, and books like moby dike, paradise lost, a brave new world, 1984, and so on.

Fable had a sentient treasure chest that was insane, that was pretty good. We have something similar with umbra but only in the stories. I want to see a town being controlled through suggestion by it's mayor(person of authority). Have signs all around town with the NPC's quoting what they say. "Avon is a wonderful leader.," "taxation is bad.", "I want you, to join the city guard." Have it come back and hit him when an outsider comes in and realizes that he isn't giving his people freedom of choice and not even letting them know about it.

Oblivion had a reference to romeo and Juliet but you didn't act on it! no player quest at all.

With the moby dike thing, just have a character torn apart by his anger, he must chase down his "white whale" for revenge and it eventually destroys him.

Fallout 3 did the paradise lost bit vaguely with the museum of natural history but I would like to see a town with a parliament (what the book was written for) cause a guy to write a book that demonizes them.

Just soo much more could be said. What about you guys what would you like to see in the writing?

Wait, do you want more story depth, or more easter eggs?

OK. I definitely agree on this then. Oblivion was very lacking in this, the only characters I felt the slightest bit of attachment/sympathy for were Baurus, Amusei and Modryn Oreyn (and the already dead guy in the quest http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Shetcombe_Farm T_T). IMO More character depth = more quest depth.

Yep. Allusions to novels are fun, but I wouldn't be fussed if there weren't any, as long as there were good plots/characters to be found.

I have a strong feeling we'll have at least one charcter to become attached to in Esbern. I really hope they do him well.

If you think Fable had good writing I strongly disagree. The lore, books, and stories in TES are on another level altogether. I definitely want to see better characters in Skyrim although you must consider that the sheer numbers of NPCs present means not all will share the same detail. I definitely want to see a much improved main quest and an interesting antagonist, something Oblivion got very wrong, especially compared to previous TES installments. In fact this is my main complaint towards Oblivion and the main reason I enjoyed it considerably less than all the previous games in the series. By the way, Redguard, even though not officialy a TES game, was a game also set in Tamriel and had a really strong story and vibrant characters - it might be a good place to look for inspiration for Skyrim in my opinion.

Radiant Story has the potential to make Skyrim's world more dynamic and believable than ever before. My main worry is that Alduin might turn out to be just another generic evil-for-no-reason, hell bent on "destroying the world" (whatever that means..) type of antagonist, which is an infallible way to make a story boring. I would also like a longer MQ and was slightly disappointed with the duration they announced.

Fable was too light-hearted to draw too much emotion from me personally, and Oblivion just seemed stereotypical and the characters all very similiar and generic. There seems like there could be so much potential for Alduin (with the Akatosh thing) that I will be extremely angry if he is just a generic big bad a$$ dragon enemy. WHat was the duration announced? I missed that

Those were examples. I just want to see more depth.

To the guy who tried to start a game argument, just stop. . . . .
