Story screwed. Bethesda did it again (bug)

Why can't ther ever be a bethesda game which I can play trough without bugs which makes it impossible to finish the story?

I'm at the mission "End of the Line" given from the institute. The task is simple. Go and kill all the Railroad leaders. I knew where they were, I knew how to open the secret door and I fought my way trough all the Brotherhood and Railroad soldiers. But what now? I can turn the freakin clock thingy which opens the secret passage to the railroad HQ but there is NO button to insert the code. I can turn the wheel like a stupid monkey but there is no way in hell for me to open the door because of the missing button. Well yea! Of course! I can tell my companion to look at the button (so it IS there...just not for me it seems) like some sort of degenerated cow but nothing else.

I tried to activate the button from every angle but I just can't activate it.

Why? Why must bethesda always screw up vital story missions in their games? Is there a way to trick my way in the railroad HQ or do I have to restart the whole game in hope of the bug magically vanishing in my next playtrough or do I have to wait for the developers to undo this madness?
