I'm keeping the posts will Laura short because I'm anticipating a curious visitor. If anyone is interested let me know.

If anybody is interested, I took the liberty of making a quick map (well screenshot mostly) of a top-down view of Sanctuary Hills. Labeling major points and houses.

I figure this way we can more easily keep track of who's living in what house and it might be helpful to get a general geographical layout of the town for people who haven't yet played the game.

The only house inhabitants I have labelled so far is Robert and Dorothy, since that's the only one I was 100% sure on. But I can easily add others.

I think house A is where the root cellar is, I might take that if no one is interested. Bufftats isn't big on large dwellings. Too many windows, too many entrance points.

Let's have Buford and Emily Tannen in that house just to the left of Ruined House 2. Which is Top Left of that picture.

Thanks for the picture by the way, great idea. I was going to say we can always pretend there are more houses as needs be, but let's keep it as is instead and we can RP building on to it eventually. Plus the idea of having to live pretty close to a bunch of strangers seems like a good way to make it seem more like a settlement and less like a town.

I don't think there are enough houses for everyone to have one, so we can sort of figure out who will share a house with who. Buford would be open to single women (hubba hubba) or couples sharing the house with him, but not single men. Emily and all. Sound good?

Yeah I figured we could start building makeshift shelters or something and structures once we get a bit more organized. Basically just like you do in-game.

Thanks a lot Andro. This really helps. For clarification, can I have House J and the house Martin's house he's scrapping is Ruined House 1? It fits in very well with my post locations. Plus I like that circular grove. Reminds me of Chorral from Oblivion.

I suppose we could even post screen shots of custom houses so we all know what they look like, and their layout.

Vat and Smiley, I think you've got a conflict since Vat you said Bufftats was going to stay in the Root Cellar of House A and Smiley I think you wanted House A as well for Buford and Emily if I'm not mistaken.

Not sure how you guys want to handle that.

It's a Root Cellar. Not like we'd be seeing too much of each other. Personally I have no issues with it, so long as Smiley doesn't mind having a backdoor neighbor.

Well the reason I ask is Smiley mentioned Buford wouldn't room with single men because of Emily.

So wasn't how he'd feel about a fellow in the cellar. :P

Hmm, I was hoping to take House J, but I'll take ruined house 1 instead, as it is technically the southernmost house in that little circle area. I'll edit my IC post to reflect this.

I'm honestly not sure if anyone would be able to live in any of the ruined houses. They're basically more like collapsed piles of rubble than houses.

I suppose you might be able to carve out a small hole or something to put a sleeping bag in. But that's about it really.

Edit: But like Smiley said, we may have to double up. So perhaps Martin wouldn't mind a roommate?

Perhaps he could claim the land (like old Prospector style just the character declaring that he intends to build on it) and then eventually RP out clearing away the rubble and setting up there. Maybe looking for help in doing the work and figuring out how to entice others to help with the tearing down/building up.

I figure that could be how the town gets together too, at least at first. Figuring out who lives where and then scrapping the ruined homes and building up around town. Most of the furniture in most of the homes is pretty well gutted and there are holes in the walls of just about everything after all

I should add in, since I forgot to mention, my mention in my last post of an extra bedroom was a clear point for anyone wanting a bedroom in his house to sleep in. He'd be willing to share with someone, but only if they've earned his trust to a moderate degree.

Also, there might be some conflict in-game since Martin's currently scrapping that house next to his since it's collapsed in and figures no one will mind him taking any usable parts left. So if Ewok's character catches up and tries to claim prospector's right, they may have a disagreement on hand.

I wouldn't mind sharing a house with Martin. We can discuss it in character! Naval is approaching him already!

Yes, unless you are willing to swim across an irradiated river or find a crossing by heading off into the wilderness.

Well in-game its the only way to approach from the direction of the rest of the Commonwealth without crossing the creek.

But since we aren't bound by the game's border limits, you could potentially come in via the Vault 111 bridge (the little tiny bridge at the bottom). That would have been the direction Robert and Dorothy came from, since they skirted around the town a bit after coming in from the left.

Or you could just cross the creek from any direction. Its really not deep or anything. Just irradiated.

For what it matters I'm gonna say Buford and Emily came in from the North East along the shore and then just sort of picked across some rocks to get to Sanctuary. Puts them closer to the house too which makes sense to me, them pretty much heading into one of the first houses they see.

Helen is coming from the South, would that means she crosses the creek of the Vault 111 way??

Sorry for the questions, just dont want to be inaccurate

Edited my post. Had to fight the quotes into submission. Hopefully, with everyone I'm responding to in quotes, you will all be able to navigate my post a little bit easier!

Naval is currently looking at claiming House H, but he's now headed over to ruined house 1 to chat up with Martin about trading and maybe they'll come to an agreement to share houses. Meanwhile, Ellie and Africa are off to visit Laura on the Vault 111 hill.
