Strange Issue After Reninstalling

Post » Sun Dec 12, 2010 11:30 pm

Well here is the issue. I wanted to reinstall Oblivion on my PC. Was getting odd crashes, and the Unofficial Oblivion Patch was not working correctly. Looked at the Data Folder. Been months mind you since before my old PC died that I played Oblivion on PC. Much less Modded it. Looked in the Meshes folder looked like some files had gone missing. So deleted OBSE, and Uninstalled OBMM. Kept their zip folders, like I do with all Mods, or OMODs I like. Uninstalled Oblivion, reinstalled it, and went to make a copy of the new Data Folder.

Now here is the fun part. The new one, after reinstalling looked exactly like the old one from before I uninstalled Oblivion. Even had some Meshes from an Mod I manually removed. Now maybe it is my bad that I do not restart the PC after uninstalling Oblivion. Though I do not see how that could have caused it. Right now my OS is Windows 7, barely a two month old PC. Any thoughts? Advice would be greatly appreciated.

The uninstaller doesn't remove mods. You'd have to manually delete the Oblivion folder after uninstalling.

Ah so basically delete everything in the Program Files? Even the saves file?

Well, not everything in Program Files. Just the Bethesda\Oblivion stuff. :P And, yes, if you want a completely clean installation, you'll want to delete the My games/Oblivion folder as well. Just don't forget to back up any saves you want to keep first.

Alright that sounds simple enough. Have my trusty thumb drive for the saves. Still not entirely sure why the Unofficial Oblivion Patch was not working correctly the first time. We'll see any ways thank you for your help. Also your signature is epic. :celebration:

Edit: The Zipped folders should not cause an issue right?
