Strange issue with Fallout 3 mods

Post » Sun Sep 18, 2011 9:01 pm

I'm an entomophobic but have wanted to really try this great game for a long time so recently I re-installed it and tried to use some mods to convert the critter enemies into ghouls but the mods do not seem to be coming into effect. I have started a new game and loaded it up but the radroaches still appear instead of ghouls in vault 101.

OS: Windows 7 x64
Application is installed to a standard folder on c:\ (not Program Files x86)

I have tried to resort the order in BOSS, FOMM and FOMS 2 but that doesn't seem to help. There are no other performance issues with the game and it seems to run as normal.

This is the mod order list exported from FOMM:

If anyone could provide any help and let me know where I might be going wrong then that would be great.

You'll have to post your plugins or describe what you changed. Nothing in that FOMM log is relevant.

Thanks for the quick reply.

The plugins I have used are from here:

http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=7691

http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11384

I have installed the game as normal to C:\Games\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout 3\ and then the DLC packs from pasted the ESP files from the two above links into the C:\Games\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout 3\Data\ directory. Then I installed FOMM, FOMS and BOSS to the same directory and launched FOMM and checked all of the mods to enable them before launching the game.

The instructions provided with the plugins just say that they are incompatibile with any mods which change character stats (I have no other mods installed) and also that they just need to be enabled in FOMM or the standard game launcher (which I have also tried). The Creatures to Ghouls page also states that the RoachtoZombie mod is the main file so I have uploaded a ciopy of this especially to make it easier: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=E9HVM0J2

If I allow FOMS to automatically fix the order list then the game will crash upon exit but still works otherwise normally apart from the mods not taking effect. If I allow FOMM to arrange the order list then the game runs normally with no crashing upon exit but still the radroach models remain as radroaches and not ghouls which is what the mod is supposed to change them to.

RoachToZombie.esp works fine for me. I spawned one of the specific creatures it changes (the roaches attacking Butch's mom) using the console and it did spawn as a ghoul. I'm puzzled. Have you started a completely new game with these plugins active?

By the way, FOMS is very outdated, as it says on the Nexus page. You should use BOSS instead, although I'm not sure there's much of a need with such a limited mod setup.

Thanks, I tried boss but it just created a load order for me with the game and DLC esm's at the top and then the creature plugins in a random order with the boss report saying that it didn't recognize any of those plugins and they could probably just be positioned anywhere.

I started a new game with the mod enabled but the first roach that appears when you get the bb gun was still a roach and so were the other ones attacking the first vault 101 officer in the 'escape' mission. Admittedly I did not try the room with Butch's mom in it but interestingly enough I checked the roach plugin in fo3edit and it made calls to an event called Butchroach or something similar so maybe the mod isn't meant to change the earlier spawns, I'm not sure really.

Can I ask where you placed the mod on your load list when you had it working and also which OS you're on please?
