Strange Leveling?

Hey I am sorta new (to the forums) so I am wondering if Skyrim scales which skills need to be leveled to increase player level. For example around level 41, i can raise very low skills like archery 5 times and hardly see any increase towards next level, whereas if I level Destruction just once (which is a high skill) it seems to bring me much closer to attaining my next level. Is this intentional / confirmed...or am I just imagining this.

its intentional and depends where you are in the skill also what it nets like a skill in lets say one-hand and your at 50 getting it to 51 will net you big and then again some where in the middle and end some points I always train like towards the end like a 75 skill trying to get it to 80 takes forever i train it lol
