strange question about weight loss er, side effects

Post » Wed Dec 25, 2013 1:16 pm

Hey CD

Ok I'll just dive right in.. the past 2-3 weeks my lower stomach, hips and thighs have been itching pretty bad. Not all the time, but pretty often (and scratching doesn't stop it :().

I've racked my brains as to why this could be, and the only conclusion I can come to is recently I've been losing quite a bit of weight (woop woop here). But then I kinda think... Surely not? Perhaps that's being a little optimistic ?

But I've not changed soaps, got new bedding.. Anything like that. The only other thing I can think is the trousers Im required to wear as part of my work uniform might be irritating me, but I've been wearing them for 6+weeks (different pairs obv), and I don't get any itches when wearing them so...

Spoiler
literally lay in bed right now my lower left thigh itching like a mofo :@

So ya anyone ever had/ know of anything like this? I am quite confused about it to be honest, lol (if it's not this, then what is it?!).

Apply lotion on yourself after a shower, wash the work trousers

Ya to clarify I have 3 pairs of them and change regularly (usually after every 4th shift). Also I always moisturise after shower ?!

Chaffing, maybe. Could be that you may need to change your moisturizer into something stronger. And you say you change your work pants, but are they washed? If you live in the US or Canada, could be that now that it is getting much colder, your body is not liking the new change. I know that when I work out, I'll sometimes itch, but that's because I hadn't showered or my skin is dry.

Yes... I thought that was pretty obvious :P
To make absolutely clear... I wash my clothes

Maybe it is chaffing though yeah... The trousers fit fine when I started, but have become a lot looser the past few weeks. Still, no irritation when I am at work wearing them (except that they really need a belt as of late, anyway )

And well I live in the UK but it has gotten a lot colder (some nights minus celcius now). I've never really had dry skin though..

Just wanted to be absolutely sure. Hmm, maybe change your laundry detergent, try stuff that's more for sensitive skin.

How have you been losing weight? Maybe you started eating something that you are allergic to?

As part of losing weight, you could be flushing new waste chemicals out through your skin. Try drinking more water to flush them out through a different path.

Maybe because of the cold weather you have been having your shower on too hot, or sitting near a radiator or fan heater or something like that, which would be drying out your skin. I doubt it is an effect of the weight loss.

I'm with uncle fuzzy. If you have been sweating more due to excercise your skin will be more exposed to the chemicals in your sweat, that was usually sent out of your body through peeing. Drink lots of water for a few days and stay in the same amount of activity as normal. That could be a solution. If not, then we know another thing that is not the cause and the detective work can continue :)

Also, there is the possibility of allergies to a new detergent or lotion/body product. Could be if you recently started a new uniform pants brand and maybe something in the fabric is irritating you, or perhaps it's chasing.
