Strange screams in dungeons

Ok, so i have a really annoying problem. In caves, every 10-15 seconds or so there is a REALLY LOUD ghostly scream in the background. It's probably mod related, i think? anyone ever heard such a thing? How could i remove it..? Here is my mod list :

AFAIK that mod only touched a custom made bat cave .

I'm thinking that the Ghostly Apparitions of MMM cause this. Does anyone know how to remove specific creatures from MMM, so that they wouldnt appear in game?

Oh, sorry about that. I never used MMM but you're probably looking for something that changes dungeons.

I also believe that's what the problem is. Anytime time I've encoutnered an Apparition in a dungeon, I also hear those odd screams and moans.

Unfortunately, you may have to look in the MMM readme for any way to remove the apparitions, as I didn't use MMM for long. :(

EDIT: ok so i looked around the readme, and couldnt find anything about removing creatures. In that case i wonder how do they make the No [insert monster name here] plugins. Is it possible to make one of those by yourself?

There is a mod called ambient dungeons but by the look of your load order you dont have it so it may well be stock oblivions sounds.

Stock oblivion sounds don't do screams.

I cannot say which mod, rather OOO or MMM, but it is definitely from one of them. But it hasn't done that for me in a very long time.

Yes, it's the screams of MMM's Ghostly Apparitions. Corepc released a plugin removing them just a while ago - check the MMM release thread for it.

Can't find it myself. I think it's buried in a single post in a previous thread so a bit like finding a needle in a haystack (at least with the search function on these forums). Corepc should of course know where it is.

You're welcome. :) Personally I love those pests. Sometimes they can actually be rather nasty - I had my char paralyzed by fear just as two Spectrals also attacked her. They would be perfect in teams like that - the apparation paralyzing the char while some other undead starts attacking.

I'm very sensitive to sounds but I've never been annoyed by their sounds being too loud - on the contrary, it seems rather perfect. Several have reported that they find it too loud, though - I think it even was tweaked down a bit in the latest MMM release. Perhaps it depends on which sound card you're using or something.

I have some vague memory of reading somewhere that the Ghostly Apparitions were Mart's favorite creature from MMM. In any case they are certainly a favorite of mine. I will never forget hearing that scream for the first time in my game. Very few things actually scare me in games and movies, but this is one that got to me. :o

I will never forget hearing that scream for the first time in my game. Very few things actually scare me in games and movies, but this is one that got to me. :o


I actually beta tested them together with Martigen, which was fun - like watching a great artist in action. It also made me realize how extremely much work that goes into a mod such as MMM. Just tweaking the scripts/effects so the paralyze effect didn't last like forever took four hours of work or something like that.

They're awesome. Ghostly apparititions never fail to sent a shiver up my back, even as long as I've played Oblivion and MMM... they don't kill you, but add an element of unpredictability that vanilla Oblivion was sorely lacking.
