Strange SKSE launching bug?

Post » Sun Nov 17, 2013 6:10 pm

My Skyrim has been fine for ever. All of a sudden, as of a week ago, my game wouldn't launch. It never gets to the main menu. Ever. I messed around and figured it out.. and its weird. Inside Mydocs/Skyrim, obviously there is Skyrim.ini, SkyrimPrefs.ini and RenderInfo.txt.

What gets weird is. I delete all three. Launch Skyrim via SKSE.exe launcher and Skyrim starts, main menu, music, I can actually play... windowed mode(800x600) and on low settings. Now. launch it via Steam. It creates a new prefs.ini. Now I launch via SKSE, and it won't start. So I launch via Steam.. won't launch. I go back, delete SkyrimPrefs.ini. Launch via SKSE, and it launches.. again in 800x600, low settings.

What the hell could be causing this. Its weird, and in all of my modding days of Skyrim I've never seen this happen. I've searched, but I can't find anything similar to this.. I'm not even sure how to title it to search.. "Skyrim wont launch with a SkyrimPrefs.ini" didn't find anything

No error code btw. Just, never loads.. not even a CTD.

Start steam and after that choose steam->go offline.

What if you start the game via TESV.exe or SkyrimLauncher.exe (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim)

On your skyrim options screen - what resolution do you have ??? (http://imageshack.us/f/24/7si4.jpg/)

Tried both of those, neither changes it. I have 1920x1080. When I let Skyrim choose my graphics settings, it chooses my GPU, and 1920x1080. What I don't get is, SkyrimPrefs.ini is what makes it so I can't launch.. having a graphic setting.. what in the world lol..

have you tried to changed it at skyrimPrefs.ini manually ???

and after that make it read only (the skyrimPrefs.ini file). Normally you shouldn't go that way, but you can try it at least !!!!
