A strange thing happening to Fallout 4 on BOTH my PCs

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 12:39 pm

I have been trying to play Fallout 4 since I got it. Whenever I play it the screen goes black and crashes. 2 Hours later I click a lot and it starts working until I get to the part where I am lowered into the vault. Then it crashed. I did it 3 times, it crashed again when I'm being lowered. I finally get it to work, then It crashes again right after I am let out of the freezing machine. Is there any way you can fix this? Or do I not have the right things for it to play right.

Specs on both "PC's" < I typed it like that because people will say PC they have a laptop with an integrated graphics card or something...which is not supported by this game.

I have a windows 10 Laptop with a Intel ® HD 5500 grapics card, and a windows 8 with I don't know. The thing is, it PLAYED. It worked, but very strangely, nothing was wrong with the graphics, and everything seemed fine exept with it crashing.

dxdiag for the windows 8 computer save to a file location you can find. Copy and paste all the lines from the top down to the display device(including the display device area). Just type dxdiag in the search feature and hit enter

Im surprised it would run on Intel 5500 HD graphics at all. That is not a "Graphics card" it's a chip on the motherboard. Onboard graphics chips are NOT for gaming, they are for displaying Word documents, web browsers and spreadsheets. It only has 32MB of dedicated video memory, that's about 1% of the video memory a GTX970/980 has, ONE percent. If the windows 8 machine has onboard video too, I think you have found your problem.

Integrated graphics is not powerful enough to run Fallout 4. Looks like it does have a PCIe x16 expansion slot for graphics, but the power supply is most likely too weak to support any gaming graphics cards. The computer is marketed as a student/office computer so its not intended for gaming.

Not helping. Should I GET anything for my computers? And if so, what should I get and where could I find it?

Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do. The laptop cannot be upgraded (in terms of graphics) and the desktop has hardware that basically prevents you from upgrading to something that works with Fallout 4. Sorry, you'll need a new computer, built to run games like Fallout 4. It might be cheaper to buy a current-gen console and the game for that. I would attempt to get a refund for your copy of Fallout 4.
