Strange view distance behavior

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 11:02 pm

Hi, I have a strange bug that I cant seems to fix and hope someone can help me with this. I am using the Overhaul mod (http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=8987 / http://morrowindoverhaul.rpgitalia.net/) with MGE XE enabled. The thing that is happening is this: when looking at graphics far away I noticed that it cuts out certain details like grass, lights in windows, smoke from chimneys and so on. But if I turn my mouse abit to left or right without moving they suddenly appear in the corner of the screen. I have posted a topic at the Overhaul forum about this behavior, but without much success for the moment (http://forum.rpgitalia.net/topic/15445-strange-view-distance-behavior/) In this topic there are several pictures showing this behavior, please look at them to get an better understanding of this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What I have tried to solve this is, reinstall all from scratch, tried redo distant land and every option that I could find with MGEXEgui including disable shaders.

What version of MGE XE are you using as that sounds like what http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1288370-shelter-from-magnus-blaze-7/page__st__90__p__19692455#entry19692455 was experiencing and it was (http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1288370-shelter-from-magnus-blaze-7/page__view__findpost__p__19859391) fixed in http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1288370-shelter-from-magnus-blaze-7/page__view__findpost__p__19854122

I concur with Dragon32. This has nothing to do with the Overhaul, but with the MGE program packaged with it. The latest MGEXE update is supposed to be in Kingpix's next update, but you can d/l it individually and install it over the version installed by MGSO.

The version that I have been using that is included in the Overhaul is MGE XE 0.9.4 (after looking in the MGE XE Info file)

Just tried the latest MGE XE (MGE XE 0.9.6) but it did not change a thing it seems.

One other thing, when i redo distant land I get one error after it finished, it says "Non-fatal error in ParseFileForCells(C:\...\data files\poorly placed object fix.esm) Value cannot be null. Parameter name: key
What does that mean?

This is not a gamebreaking bug of course, but it is abit annoying as I have a pretty beefy system and have the graphic set up pretty high. If it only did decrease the graphic details slighty, I most likely would not have seen it, or would not have been using time on this, but it really decrease details in the distant, making it much shorter than what I can se if I look at it in the corners of the screen. What a silly bug

I've seen other people with http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1319553-a-problem-regarding-dark-brotherhood-armor/page__view__findpost__p__19931757 for Poorly Placed Object Fix, are you using http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=9197? Try re-downloading it.

I think some people are using a version where the mod's records are messed up and out of sync with how Morrowind parses them, so yeah. Try a new download.

I get the same error for PPOF. Slartibartfast released his latest version just a day or two after Kingpix released MGSO. I'm pretty sure that going to be in the next update of MGSO as well.

Bit of a major finger slip there.
