Strat Guide and Wikia

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 3:53 am

How will the guide and Wikia work now that we'll be dealing with Radiant Story in Skyrim? TES guides before were easy-to-use guides and obviously had NPC's locations, names, and detailed side quest descriptions. I feel like Radiant Story might complicate things now and make guides, official or otherwise, difficult to use. I'm not complaining by any means. I am merely curious. Without being able to provide detailed info how are official strat guides going to read and how will the online community be able contribute effectively to sites such as Wikia?

I imagine that they'll work in a very similar way to how they already do, just with a lot less specifics and a lot more possible outcomes. Rather than '...is found in the Vilviren Ruins', it would be '...is found in a nearby dungeon.'

I guess it could mean you have to figure some things out on your own :o

Well, if the Radiant Story quests are randomized like in Daggerfall, there will almost certainly be a basic template for each random quest. UESP has these basic templates on their wiki. For example "Go to [random dungeon] and retrieve [random item] within [number of days] and I'll give you [amount of money]" Wiki pages will probably wind up listing that rather than the hundreds of possibilities for each quest.

Same way they did the Arena and Daggerfall wikis, considering both games were packed full of random quests?

I never understodd why anyone would need an online guide explaining where they are supposed to go when they had the magic compass. The quest "walkthroughs" are too detailed in the OB section, there is no need for that because the compass tells you where to go.
