Strategy For Killing Chaurus

Post » Thu Jan 02, 2014 5:04 am

I don't see Chaurus very often, but they were a pest for me to kill at a lower level, so I've decided to make a guide for killing them.

Things that I have found are particularly useful:

Necklace of Poison Immunity (100% Resist)

Bow (I have around 90 Archery, with lots of perks, so the Glass Bow 1-hits them)

Command Animal Power*

Paralyze Poisons

Lots of Fire (enchant a weapon, works great)

Onmund (He spams Chain Lightning, married him)

Large Can of RAID

6-foot Rolled Up Newspaper

Archery Guide:

A good way to do this is to coat your bow with a Paralysis poison, if you can't one-hit them, they won't attack you. This is where you'll need the Necklace of Poison Immunity. At distances, they will spit poison at you, and for some players, this poison is fatal. With the necklace, it will not last. Command Animal is great here. More often than not, Chaurus are accompanied by Falmer or more Chaurus. Command Animal will turn most Chaurus into allies, making them attack their Falmer masters, or hostile Chaurus.

Melee Method:

Being a Melee user gives you one advantage in this instance. Chaurus won't spit poison at you at this distance. The Necklace of Poison Immunity is still useful here, as not all Chaurus in the area will be at melee range. A shield is suggested here, since Chaurus do devestating damage at low-mid levels. On my Khajiit, I used dawnbreaker and the shield that you get in Forgotten Vale. The shield stores energy from blocked attacks and releases them during Shield Bash, which is useful. Kiting (attacking and backing up before the enemy can retaliate) is also a good choice. As I said in the Archery Guide, use Command Animal.

*Command Animal is the Bosmer Racial Power. If you are not Bosmer, a good alternative to this is the dragon shout Animal Allegiance. According to UESP, the Command Animal Power has a Magnitude of 99 (Creatures up to level 99) and a range of 75ft. Animal Allegiance has a Magnitude of 20, and can have a range of 225 feet with the third word. Both of these command the creatures x amount of feet IN FRONT of the character, not all around the character.

Since I mainly play Warriors, I shield bash and take advantage of Quick Reflexes.

Stab them, roast them (your choice of Charcoaled or lightning fried), stick an arrow to their head, or smash their face in with a mace.

Oooh, yeah, I like this idea. I hate Falmer as much as I hate the Thalmor.

Spamming Flaming Familiars from a safe location. Anska is not the only character that likes to watch them burn :flame:
