Streamline 3.0 beta 4 Help

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 7:36 am

So I've got a really slow processor (duo 1.8ghz) and a mediocre graphics card (NVidia 8600 GT), and I wanted to run the game at ultra high quality without stutter. I soon realized that it was my processor with it's spawning objects and shadows that were making me lag, since Oblivion only runs on one processor, and individually, mine are complete garbage. So I downloaded Streamline 3.0 beta. This is what I did. I unzipped it, ignored the "save your old .esp files" thing (I don't know why.), and then put it in there just like this. Looks like what they wanted, right?

I had to do it manually because of Oblivion Mod Manager.

I activated it and checkmarked the .esp in Oblivion Mod Manager. Then I tried x-ing it out in the Oblivion "Data" menu and then not x-ing it, because I'm pretty sure that the "X" means excluded. So where do I go from here? Is it working? I clicked control+home and the menu didn't come up. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

You should use SL 3.1, and then install the 3.1b patch on top of it. Do not use v3.0.

Here is a guide to for configuring your SL.ini: http://sites.google.com/site/oblivionpoinfo/ini/streamline.

Thankyou, this was very helpful. Streamline 3.1 is up and running well, I really appreciate it. The game still stutters almost as bad whenever any objects load, but I learned that Oblivion only runs on one processor, and I'm actually using a duo core 1.83ghz, which is pretty sad. I'm probably going to buy a better duo core or something, I'm really missing out on a lot of new releases, and that's the third easiest and final possible way to upgrade a laptop without removing the motherboard, right?

Well, whatever. I think that the stuttering is a small price to pay for this great game, and I'm used to it because I played to about Level 22 on Xbox 360.

If your computer needs a little more aggressive buffer purgin, drop the StreamPurge number from 4 to 3. That is should still be pretty safe. The more aggressive PCB management, the more likely things can go wrong. 3 is still okay. You should not push that too much unless you really need it, but I think that setting is still fairly safe. Also, install the http://sites.google.com/site/oblivionpoinfo/stabilization/fpssmoothing All you need to do to install it is make sure that the DLLs and the components folder end up in the OBSE\Plugins\ directory. I think that the packaging makes the easiest install process, downloading the mod to the Oblivion folder and extracting it there. It should end up in the right folder that way. You have to run the latest OBSE version to use it, but OSR will make a huge difference with the stuttering. Do you have Quiet Feet MAX as well? Install http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22410 as well, another OBSE plugin. The DLL should end up in the same place. Check this list over as well: http://sites.google.com/site/oblivionpoinfo/walkthroughs/baininstallguide/downloadrequired. On a laptop with that processor, you should probably install everything there (applicable to your setup.)
