This movie was brought to my attention by the anime Megazone 23. I remember how this anime revolutionized 80's anime like Bubblegum Crisis. Alot of the elements are often seen and it made me wonder how it was not as popular as it should've been

I remember it. I saw it in the theater and have loved it ever since. I even own a copy of the film. It's not perfect (whoever did hairstyles was not on the same page as the rest of the design teams), but it has a certain quirky magic that resonates with me. And it marks the official beginning of my decades-long crush on Amy Madigan.
I did not see it at the theaters but did see it many times on Cable and had a crush on both Amy and Diane. Then again I was only 11 or 12 when it first appeared on First Choice movie channel I think it was in 1984 but it could have been 1985.
I MEANT to say movie, but I was thinking about anime at the time, and sometimes my fingers type the wrong things. But anyway, the movie inspired many anime as I and IMDB mentioned in so many words, even Megazone 23 had kind've turned it into an anime short (I think this is why I said that it was an anime, that and grammerly does this wierd thing with typing in forum posts). To this day, I never did understand why this movie never really take off like it should have and instead, fell into total obscurity. I have it on blueray and on amazon instant video, love to watch it and how it's a combination of multiple eras.
I remember it as being well received. Its a was modern interpretation of the Trojan War. The directors earlier film The Warriors was inspired
by the Anabasis.
Same director? I had no idea. I enjoyed both movies and own a copy of The Warriors
What I love about these things is looking back and seeing how young everyone looks then
