Strength Jump Height

Post » Thu Dec 10, 2009 11:48 pm

Take a look at this screenshot here: http://gamingbolt.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/crysis_hd_3.jpg

As a level designer myself clearly those large crates were put there to restrict the player from going beyond that area. Is it safe to assume that the strength jump height can not go high enough to clear those? Or do you think its a possibility there are some invis solids right above those to prevent from jumping over and the jump height actually is enough?

Upon further inspection possibly its more so a spot to allow occlusion of whats behind and you are able to get over viz the yellow crate.

Maybe im just being paranoid about the suit since it was so perfect in crysis :/

Well they have to limit the level somehow. But I doubt they're doing it this way.

You get a bunch of warning signposts if you leave the map. If you continue walking, a horde of infected civilians come after you! :D

they will use barriers like think and "invisible" solids

D_wolf that could be the next level... think of L4D2 you can see the end of the level most of the time, you just take 4 missions to get there...

colorblind? that crate isnt yellow, its the same dirty green as the others. the cab on the right and of course the sunlight (in the game-.-) and speculars are yellow.

i think youre supposed to reach that place, and wonder where you should go then realize you should jump over the crates, i mean, maybe you actually have to go over.

I'm betting Crytek will probably use less obvious level barriers. Things like fallen skyscraqers and wreckage would make more sense.

The Crates will probably be used more for human enemy fortifications and checkpoints.
