Strong is the worst companion ever

Post » Tue Mar 22, 2016 3:41 pm

Love me some Strong. There is nothing more fun than sending him ahead into a raider camp to wail on fools with a SuperSledge while I sit back and plink away. STRONG SMASH !!!!

Strong is banished to the Murkwater construction site all by himself because I couldn't stand listening to him anymore.

I got his perk pretty quickly doing Minutemen quests and just killing stuff, despite his dislike of my constant lockpicking. Once I got it, I sent him to a settlement and took someone else. I'm about halfway through getting all the companion perks now.

Never had Strong as companion. Got discouraged from reading about him in previous threads. Don't see that changing :)

Naw piper is. Can't fight, can't hack, can't cook and she looks like a boy.

He's perk does feel like the hardest one to get, (if you don't have the corpse eating perk). But he does like killing. I noticed he likes it when you hunt animals. Got his perk sniping Radstags. Guess the game views them as non-hostiles?

Strong also likes it when you build stuff. I found this out accidentally.

So, if you're in a settlement building phase, that would be a good time to have him along.

Ah, I get it. He hates machines.

Lol, Strong and Nick Valentine had a funny exchange when I swapped them out at Nick's agency.

Lol, the way he whines and complains, Strong should have been a female super mutant. Besides with Strong Back, Lone Wanderer, deep pocketed armor, ballistic weaved army fatigues, a few legendary armor pieces that add +1 Strength, and some cooked Ragstad meat, even Strong's extra carry capacity doesn't overshadow his humorous but annoying complaints.

Doing Minuteman missions is a display of strength from you and Strong likes that.

Except I despise the Minutemen. Too bad there is no actual quest to Destroy The Minutemen.

That sounds like a good idea. I didn't want to go a murder spree for this playthrough killing NPCs who at least treat me respectfully. Marcy Long is flagged as essential and I'm not sure if Ann Codman is essential or not.

Same here, that was the icing on the cake for me. After his power armor dislike, I was going to dismiss him then, but he gave me a deathclaw steak while I was in the process of talking to him so I decided to give him another shot. Then I'm modding a weapon to give him, and he dislikes it, but had no problem using it.

Speaking of Strong, should there be "just smash" perk for opening locks for a character that has low intelligence and has poor lockpicking skills?

Lol, that would be awesome for both lockpicks but it should only have a slight percentage of success so that the Just Smash perk wouldn't totally negate Lockpick perk. Also, success rate results would be a one-time, randomly predetermined result to avoid exploiting success through save reloads. If you fail, you break and ruin the lock from ever opening or being lockpicked.

I've found that almost all companions "like" it when you develop a settlement. Especially X6. Sometimes they'll walk up an initiate the milestone affinity chats; sometimes you have to talk to them. But I think they have to be active companions while doing it. Not sure if just being in the settlement is good enough.

Strong sometimes say something supportive when you're holding a melee weapon.

Like "Kill! Go kill them all, human!"

Heard this when I was holding a rambo knife next to an enemy.

I'd like to thank you! I had no idea that Grognak's Axe was in the game. Cool.

He doesn't like it when you pick locks, which gets annoying.

Other than that I kind of liked the big lug.

I got his perk by just traveling around to places that spawned raiders and such.
