im gonna say ceasers legion.
As a whole, it seems every man and soldier is trained to fight over years, the ones that are better are promoted up.

Whereas the ncr as a bulk as recruits that are semi trained over a period of months. Yes the rangers are an exception to this but also the rangers are a division of their own and dont make up the bulk of the army but a small percentage.

The battles between the ceasers legion, and ncr, mainly the times the ncr won thier battles was because they were already in a stronghold and defending it, which in battle alot of times gives the upper hand in battle.

The mwbos and the ncr and the legion have won battles against each other, but when an untech type army is able to win battles against people in pa suits weilding high tech weaponery and against armys that are civilized and have but not always supply their troops with advance armor and weaponery against savages mainly weilding machetes and rifles wearing football outfits, iy says alot about the power of that situation.

To be frank when we use real life examples of war world 2 of europe countries invading northern africa who are armed in melee, bows, and small arms and roll over them mainly due to superior tech and in this universe u have savages that are in the lowend of the techh department holding its own against superior tech and armor, its says alot imo.

Warmaster Demetrius, salonika crusade, I love my Codex, I do however have a point to make:

If the NCR is so advanced and large, apparently they have trucks according to the guy at sloan, would it be possible that the NCR has Armoured Fighting Vehicles, Tanks even, and if so why weren't they utilised in the NCR-Legion War? I'd understand if they were facing an enemy with AMRs those things are designed to shoot through vehicles, but fighting against what the NCR considers "Tribals" if the NCR does have them why weren't they used, I mean, I know the oil in fallout is virtually non-existent but with either Fission Batteries or Fusion Tech-depends- they could have utilised them and literally rolled over the legion, where's the artillery? the legion has it, the boomers have it, but the NCR don't, I can think that politicians perhaps wouldn't allow howitzers through, correct me If I'm wrong on any points, Just wondering.

What would NCR fuel tanks with? The only practical source of fuel would be bio-fuels but the NCR can't tap into it's food supplies to produce fuels. It will raise the cost of food and create shortages.

As for the trucks I would imagine they are battery powered or if using bio-fuels, the trucks are only used sparingly. Seems to me that the main way to get goods around is by brahmin caravans as seen in New Vegas.

Also the NCR isn't activly fighting a war with The Legion. The NCR is pretty much just trying to contain the Legion. They don't have any plans that I could see in New Vegas that suggest they have any future plans to push into Legion territory.

Given that the NCR holds back troops to protect brahmin herds and has their Rangers running around in Baja "chasing ghosts." That and NCR would have easily won the first battle of Hoover Dam if not for what happened at the Divide.

The NCR would also have access to a number of Howitzers as seen in Fallout 2, but they don't see the need to bring them to the Mojave.

Its pretty much a total lack of political will to fight the Legion. NCR has other issues and other places to expand. Fighting an all out war with the Legion over a very large area would cost way to much money and lives. The leaders don't feel they could convince the people of NCR to go to war. That is how I see it.

  • I can see that tanks would be unusable due to the lack of fuel, But I would assume Nuclear Fusion packs or Fission batteries would have been intergrated into the tanks Pre-Great War seen as PA works on Nuclear Fusion Packs, But I can't see the NCR having working tanks, maybe tanks with malfunctioning systems, but not fully working tanks.
  • I'll agree with you on that.
  • I agree with you on containing the legion, though depending on NV outcome perhaps expanding northwards into oregon, seen as pretty much thats the only way they can go if they're containing the legion, north.
  • I would've assumed that in the central territories an actual police force is used, but yeah protecting the outer zones would have to be the military so that pretty much bogs the NCR down.
  • I would've though seen as kimball was apparently a soldier at the 1st battle for hoover dam that he would've ordered howitzers, but then again he is pretty corrupt according to the various commanders, though I can see that perhaps the howitzers are being kept in case the legion overunns the mojave and they retreat towards the Mojave outpost, I mean the hill to climb it is an ideal place to utilise howitzers and snipers.

Pre-War tanks were replaced with Power Armour. I am sure tanks were still around, but their roll would have changed, I am guessing to mobile artillery. A tank would use alot fuel, no matter what that maybe and resouces to make it. Why make a nuclear tank when you can make about 20 suits of T-51b or more for the same resources?

NCR can expand south into Mexico which they have already been doing. They can expand North and North East. Nothing is really stopping them from going north.

I can think of a couple reasons for not sending howitzers.

1: Sending them would tell the people "this is a real war."

2: The cost to send them, the cost to fire them, the cost to maintain them. Each round would cost alot of money to make and send. Just training troops would eat up alot of rounds. Think of how many rifle bullets you can make for every howitzer round.

3: Risk of being captured by the enemy.

I do think that whilst Power Armour was the replacement for tanks, the tank does have the power to bring a potentially more powerful weapon, but generally I can see that to the post-war nations tanks are a waste of time and resources.

Agreed, what is stopping the NCR from Going north? whilst a new campaign could lose the trust of the voters for whoever is in power, a quick successful war would not only re-build morale, it would also send a message to other factions that it still has power, so basically the NCR should focus on a defensive line in the Mojave and focus on a quick war with preparation, though to be fair to the NCR they didn't exactly enter the Mojave prepared.

Though by the looks of the graveyard at forlorn hope, it is a real war, but I can understand with the amount of legion spies why Howitzers wouldn't be used, intel provided, trap set up, victory or failure, though basically worries over financial costs is what is stopping from winning the war in the mojave, with the proper financial costs a sustained boost of money could basically provide the proper soldiers with proper equipment and the ammo fodder with better protection to keep the enemies attention longer.

But I can see the howitzers being utilized if the legion wins at the NCR-mojave border, but that is all.

If the Legion wins the Mojave. I can see it having a Pearl Harbor like effect for the NCR. If the Mojave falls the Legion would be at the throat of NCR's territory. The people of the NCR would rally and fully support whatever military action needed to stop the Legion.

Or it could have an opposite effect, politicians promise to fight, but pursue own gains, military leaders promise to solve the problem, get the resources, then form their own mini-republics, personally I'd like to see an FDR figure take control of the NCR but all the NCR needs is a slap in both of the heads of its bear or a good leader, but my hope is an NCR or House ending, or at least a degree fo friendliness between house and the NCR if House wins.

I think that the NCR would win 3/4 endings in New Vegas. Those being NCR, House, and Legion endings. The NCR one is obvious. For House the NCR could easily go around the Mojave if they so pleased and House isn't going to hunt them down. With House defeating them they could also re-work their political situation. And again like you said with the Legion.

I think Teddy would be a better choice for them right now. Especially with Imperialism and monopolies and stuff. /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Or perhaps Benjamin Disraeli or William Gladstone, But a Theodre Roosevelt Figure'd be good, there are a lot of good leaders out there for bethesda and/or whoever makes the game next to base the NCR leaders if the NCR is mentioned, but on a military leader for a president I'd place my money on Colonel Hsu winning the election.

My question was answered by styles, though if you're referring to the fact the amount of destruction caused to the NCR forces in the divide by the destruction or creation of the divide, I'd think that the NCR has vehicles sitting in various military outposts.

Most likely, but I'd have to guess they're running VERY low on military vehicles after that.

I'm gonna have to go with NCR. I don't know much about the MidWestern BOS as the first Fallout game I played was Fallout 3, but I understand they are much more powerful than anything that Caesars' legion, the Enclave, or the NCR can throw at them. However, I don't have actual knowledge of them so my vote is with NCR because they have the men, the guns, the food, and the electricity to rebuild a civilization. The BOS is however my favorite and I think a BOS Paladin could beat an NCR Ranger every time one on one.

Eastern brotherhood. They have modern tech and also liberty prime. Well that is destroyed, but im sure they are able to replicate them.

Also i hate that ncr managed to destroy atleast partially enclave. It just doesnt make sense in anyways. it doesnt matter if they would have bigger in numbers, because techlevel difference is too high also they seem to be highly organised and well fortified bases.

ncr attacking forces would be destroyed completely without effort if they would try to attack enclave bases. Enclave has everything, massive powerarmors so no luckshots work against them, vertibirds giving massive fire support from the air, superior tactics and weaponry and terrain knowledge(vertibirds scouting etc.) Well, i hope that enclave is getting upperhand in fallout 4 and destroys ncr and legion completely.

New California Republic has both numbers and technology to win a free for all between all of the listed factions, everyone else either has just one or the other.

Caesar's Legion. Arguably the most intense and long training, from birth till death. Extreme reproduction speed with all non-slave males being entered into the military. Massive amounts of raw man-power in the form of slaves. There whole culture revolves around war. Their government is (IMO) flawless, free of corruption. All soldiers literally live to kill and die, they don't question orders, they do. Every minute of every day is training.

My second would be the Mid-Western Brotherhood for obvious reasons.

And the third... The Pitt, I guess.

Pretty much this. The NCR definitely right now. However, if the Courier plays his cards right and harnesses the Big MT and Sierra Madre tech (specifically the holograms and vending machines) he'll be unstoppable.
